Nucleus PatientEd
! Well-educated patients are better able to understand and manage their own health and
medical care throughout their lives.1
! Technology should work for me and my patients, and not the other way around.
Ideally, it should save me and my staff time and require no extra work or changes to my
workflow.
! Videos are an effective medium for patient education because they require no reading
and patients find them easy to understand, regardless of their health literacy level.2
Nucleus PatientEd gives patients an easy way to watch accurate 3D animations anywhere
or anytime – using a computer or smartphone.

from categories such as, enhancing care coordination, patient and clinician shared
decision-making, and expansion of practice access.
The Time Your Patients Spend Watching Videos is a straightforward measurement based
on patients who launch videos. For example, a patient diagnosed with Essential (Primary)
Hypertension, would be assigned the following animations to watch from their secure
patient portal:
It would take a patient 21 minutes to watch all of these videos one time, and if patients
watch a video multiple times, those minutes are added to the calculation as well.
Currently, we count the full runtime of the animation as the total time a patient watches a
video, but in future versions you will be able to see when a patient partially watches a
video.
Sample ROI Calculation: Time spent watching of 2.5 hours times a billing rate of
$105/hour = $262.50 minus monthly cost of $49 = $213.50, divided by $49 = 4.36 ROI.
In short, you should anticipate an approximate 4x return on your monthly spend.

“First of all, I think this is a great idea. With the limited time that we (as providers) have
with our patients in our current healthcare system, something like this would be valuable
to both patients and providers.” - Faria Khan, MD, MBA
“I believe the animations are much easier for patients to understand than still images
printed on fliers, or even the pre-constructed printouts from an EMR we are required to
give out as part of meaningful use criteria.”
- Jeff Taylor, MD
“Most simply, Nucleus Medical Media animation is the best in the business. How do I
know? I've looked at every conceivable site, about a dozen times. NMM is without
parallel or peer. Period.”
- George McClane, MD
“Animations provide visual cues and better understanding in a succinct fashion. The
animation keeps the patients engaged while they are learning the information.”
- Dr. George Crawford, MD
"We have been using the Nucleus educational pieces exclusively for 20 years now. The
feedback from our patients has been extremely positive. Not only are they better
informed about their injuries and proposed surgery, but the number of post visit telephone
calls to clarify information has drastically decreased since the patients now have clear
and concise informational handouts to take home. Thanks for developing this great
product."
- Rick Hammesfahr, MD
“The animations are excellent. The picture they convey is spot on. I think they are better
than most I've seen.”
- Phil Beron, MD
