Materials and tools:

1. I use the following semi-cotton yarn for the wall hanging: Alize
Cotton gold and Cotton gold Plus, YarnArt Jeans and Jeans Plus.
You can use the plus size yarn as well as the regular one (folded in two)
in this wall hanging, but it is advisable to take them from one
manufacturer. For example YarnArt Jeans Plus for a background and
YarnArt Jeans in two for a silhouette. Otherwise, the thickness of the
crochet stitches may differ.
Yarn for a background:
Alize Cotton gold Plus №62 (milk)
YarnArt Jeans Plus №03 (milk)
Yarn for a silhouette:
YarnArt Jeans №87 (beige)
Alize Cotton gold tweed №262 (beige)
Additional yarn:
YarnArt Jeans № 74 (pink), № 76 (turquoise), № 89 (lilac), № 85
(terracotta), № 90 (red), Alize Cotton gold № 126 (green) – for
feathers and straps.
YarnArt Jeans №03 (milk) - for muzzle.
YarnArt Jeans №70 (brown) and Alize Cotton gold №216 (yellow) -
for a hair bandage for a bear-boy, YarnArt Jeans №83 (powder) and
Alize Cotton gold №216 (yellow) - for a hair bandage for a bear-girl.
2. 2 wooden sticks 30 cm long and 0.8-1 cm thick. You can use only
one stick (top).
3. Hooks: 3,5 mm – for a cloth, 2,25 mm – for the ears, feathers,
muzzle and hair bandage, 2,0 mm – for straps (I use “Clover”).
4. Long needle for sewing on parts, and to hide the tips, and a thicker
needle for attaching the upper stick.
5. 15 mm safety eyes or the eyes with loop for sewing, or better half
beads.
6. Circles of felt 20 mm in diameter.
7. Velvet safety nose 20х15 mm.
8. Black and brown sewing thread for decoration.
9. Glue.
10. A little bit of stuffing materials for muzzle.

Basic cloth

(graphical scheme)
Basic cloth

(explanations)

The graphical scheme of the basic cloth contains data on what

color to crochet each sc in every row.
After each row, crochet 1 ch st, these loops are not included in
the graphical scheme.
We start crocheting from making a chain of 46 ch and then, we
work into the second loop from the hook, crochet the single
crochets of the first row of the scheme.
Odd rows of the scheme are "read" from right to left, even rows -
from left to right.
Crochet the cloth with “check marks”, not “crosses”, so it will be
softer and smoother.
I recommend you to hide the tips inside the single crochets do
not tie them on the wrong side. In this way, the work will look
tidy.

Leave the thread approx.150 cm after crocheting and do not pull

it out from the last loop. You will need it to fasten the top stick.
For crocheting the background on both sides of the bear
silhouette (rows 3-39), it is more convenient to use separate
threads. For example, first 9 sc of the 3rd row we crochet with
one thread, than change to the beige, and for the last 9 sc you
take the yarn from the middle of the ball or from another ball. In
this way, the back part of the cloth will look better.
Color changing on the front side:

Color changing on the wrong side: Pay attention that ALWAYS

when changing the thread on the wrong side place the thread of
the previous color before crocheting

Hair bandage

Use yarn YarnArt Jeans 83, hook size 2,25 mm.

Cast on a chain from 36 ch and crochet 35 sc, starting into the second
loop from the hook. Leave the yarn for sewing.
Assembly and decoration:

Start gathering the wall hanging from the muzzle sewing, do it between
the 17/23 rows (count from the bottom).
Insert the nose before sewing, do it between the 4th and 5th rows of
the muzzle, fasten it on the wrong side.
During the sewing, add some stuffing materials.
Join the eyes with felt circles and fasten them (sew the eyes with loop
or glue them if you are using semi beads) between the 25th and 26th
rows. The distance between the eyes (between the legs of the safety
eyes) are 8-9 sc, between the glued eyes – 5-6 sc.
Using the black thread folded in two, we embroider a strip and a smile
on the face and eyelashes.
Embroider the eyebrows using the brown color thread folded in two.
Sew the feathers, starting with pink or another that will be in the
center.
Fix the lower edge of the feather between the 32nd and 33rd rows, the
top edge – between the 38th and 39th rows.
Sew the other two feathers on the sides of the central one according to
the same principle.
Using a long needle, pull the yellow thread through the single crochets
of the hair bandage as shown in the photo below.
Sew the edges of the hair bandage: top - between 38/39 rows of the
cloth, lower - between 30/31 rows. Fix the hair bandage to the cloth next
to the feathers with several stitches of thread.
Optionally, you can join the beads on thread along the bottom edge of
the hair bandage.
Sew the ears between the 34/38 rows of the cloth on both sides of the
head.
Fasten the straps, starting from the top (between the 25/26 rows of
the cloth), then the middle (between 23/24 rows) and lower (between
21/22 rows).
Decorate the bear's body with stitches of contrasting threads (I use
milky and powder colors).
Top stick fastening
Leave the thread of 150 cm after crocheting, and pull the stick through
the last loop as shown in the photo.
With the help of the needle, we fix the stick to the loops of the last row
of the cloth. Continue so, until we reach the end of the row.
With the help of the hook, we pull out the chain stitch from the last
turn of the thread and continue crocheting the chain for attaching the
wall hanging.
My chain consists of 55 chain stitches. Depending on your desire, you
can vary its length up or down.
From the last ch st, we pull out the thread and fasten it at the other end
of the stick, hide the tip of the thread in the cloth.
Use the same yarn for the fringe as for the cloth crocheting. I chose
the milky background threads and the feather colored threads for
contrast.
It is necessary to cut them 20-25 cm long and pull them through into
the loops of the lower row of the cloth as shown in the photo. Pull 2
colored threads in one loop.
Place the lower stick on the threads and fix it by pulling the free ends
of the threads into the previously formed loops. Start from the middle, so
the stick will move less when forming the knots.
Congrats!
