Boom Position Adjustment
Bobcat Company has received some reports of
incorrect clearance and/or asymmetry of the front boom Figure 2
connections on the machines listed in this letter. After
investigation, the root cause was found a possible
deviation during the assembly process. S=0,55 mm S=1 mm

In case incorrect clearance and/or asymmetry of the S=4 mm S=2 mm
front boom connections is found, check symmetrical
boom position on the frame as described below.

Procedure

Position the Backhoe Loader on a flat level ground, lift
the front bucket and lower the front boom until even
contact between the bucket and ground surface is A B
reached. S43101

Using the measured values A and B, calculate offset
value “X” [Figure 2] according to the formula:
X=(│A-B│-5) /2.

NOTE: The offset value must be: X ≤2,5 mm.

It is necessary to remove the adjustment washer(s)
from the connection with bigger gap and insert the
washer(s) into the opposite side connection. The size
of the washer(s) to be moved is shown in the table
below based on the calculated offset value (X)
[Figure 2]:

CALCULATED OFFSET SIZE OF WASHER(S)

S43102 X ≤0,55 0,55 mm
0,55<X ≤1 1,00 mm
Measure the distance (both sides) between the boom
1 <X ≤1,55 1,00 mm + 0,55 mm
and the front bar of the frame (A and B) [Figure 1].
1,55 <X ≤2,00 2,00 mm
• If difference between A and B ≤5 mm, no further 2 <X ≤2,5 2,00 mm + 0,55 mm
actions required.
When adjustment is done (washer(s) are moved),
• If difference between A and B >10 mm, raise a difference between A and B [Figure 1] must be ≤5 mm.

Measure distance "Y" [Figure 2] between the end face
of the pin and the end face of the loader boom bushing.
Distance must be: 1,5 mm ≤Y ≤7,5 mm

NOTE: If distance “Y” NOT within range, raise a

Make sure that the gap “Z”=0,5 to 1 mm [Figure 2] and

[Figure 3] by inserting a washer or set of washers of
0,55 mm, 1 mm, 2 mm or 4 mm thickness. Order the
washer(s) needed as per table below.

NOTE: Washers of less thickness must be on the

inside.

Repeat the procedure for the opposite connection side.
