INTRODUCTION
Next believes it is important that raw materials are sourced in a way that respects the people, animals and environment in our supply chain. In 2018 we launched the 2025 Responsible Sourcing
targets for our key raw materials to support this ambition. This 2025 Responsible Sourcing Manual has been created to provide guidance to our Product Teams and Supply Chain Partners on our
approach to Responsible Sourcing.
It is important we share true and accurate information with our customers to maintain the integrity of the Next brand. The raw materials we source must meet the requirements of this Responsible
Sourcing Manual to ensure they are genuine, fully verified or certified and traceable.
ii) Clearly state what can be promoted to our customers using the Next Generation branding.
Follow the 2025 Labelling & Claims Guide tab for full details. There are certain minimum criteria, such as composition % or verification requirements, below which, promotion can NOT take place.
If promotion can not take place, most products can still be reported in the overall 2025 Responsible Sourcing Targets for the business by using the 2025 Attributes on BRP.

VERSION 1.3 AUGUST 2020
Next believes it is important that raw materials are sourced in a way that respects the people, animals and environment in our supply chain. In 2018 we launched the 2025 Responsible Sourcing targets for our key raw materials to support this ambition. This 2025 Responsible Sourcing Manual has been created to provide
guidance to our Product Teams and Supply Chain Partners on our approach to Responsible Sourcing.
It is important we share true and accurate information with our customers to maintain the integrity of the Next brand. The raw materials we source must meet the requirements of this Responsible Sourcing Manual to ensure they are genuine, fully verified or certified and traceable.
ii) Clearly state what can be promoted to our customers using the Next Generation branding.
Follow the 2025 Labelling & Claims Guide tab for full details. There are certain minimum criteria, such as composition % or verification requirements, below which, promotion can NOT take place. If promotion can not take place, most products can still be reported in the overall 2025 Responsible Sourcing Targets for the
business by using the 2025 Attributes on BRP.
2025 LABELLING & CLAIMS Use this guide to decide which Next Generation information you can use on your product and how this needs to be verified. It covers all on-product labelling including swing tickets and care labels, as well as packaging (for products without swing tickets) and

2025 ATTRIBUTES GUIDE Use this guide to understand what, if any, attributes you need to load onto Buyers Range Plan (BRP) in order to track your 2025 progress as a department. NEXT GENERATION A range of standardised Next Generation swing tickets has been developed:
SWING TICKETS • A maximum of ONE swing ticket ONLY is allowed on all Next Generation products
• Always promote the 2025 responsible fibre with the largest %
• The label ref for the Next Generation swing ticket is detailed in the Label Reference column in the table below
• All small tickets start with the prefix NEXTGEN-S followed by 3 digits
• All large tickets start with the prefix NEXTGEN-L followed by 3 digits
• All small tickets will require barcoded POS sticker ref KWPM or UPMP
• All large tickets will require barcoded POS sticker ref UDBT
Visuals of all these tickets are available on nexttrims website. Please register for a login at www.nexttrims.co.uk if you do not have a login already
For packaged products that do not use swing tickets see - 'Packaged Product Without a Swing Ticket' section below
The general rules for Next Generation labelling can be found in the 'Types of Next Generation Label' table below
• Do NOT use terms such as 'sustainable', 'biodegradable', 'environmentally friendly', 'eco' or similar wording to describe products as they are not verifiable
• Do NOT ''Greenwash'' and make claims that can not, or have not been verified
ONLINE Standardised Next Generation promotional wording has been developed for online copy and spreads (TOV) - see the 'Swing Ticket Reverse (Short statement)' or 'Approved Claims wording for Point of Sale (Packaging, Online etc.) and Tone of Voice (TOV)' columns of this guide
PROMOTIONAL
WORDING (TOV) • Do NOT use terms such as 'sustainable', 'biodegradable', 'environmentally friendly', 'eco' or similar wording to describe products as they are not verifiable
• Do NOT ''Greenwash'' and make claims that can not, or have not been verified
CARE LABEL Always use the correct 2025 branded fibre name for composition labelling if the fibre has one e.g. use REPREVE® polyester instead of polyester
COMPOSITIONS
TRACEABILITY Please collect as much information about the supply chain as possible
• Fabric supplier, spinner, knitter or weaver, dyer or printer, laundry, placement printer, finished tannery and wet blue tannery MUST be declared to NEXT
• For NIS/HIP users: all this information is loaded onto NIS/HIP
• For non-NIS/HIP users: fabric supplier and leather tannery information must be loaded onto BRP
PRODUCT WEIGHT Product weight must be loaded accurately into BRP. This is needed to calculate fibre consumption
RECYCLED FIBRE Polyester - recycled polyester fibre must be from post consumer waste. Pre consumer and post industrial waste is not accepted
CONTENT Nylon - recycled nylon fibre must be made from a minimum of 50% post consumer waste. The remaining 50% can be conventional or pre consumer/ post industrial waste nylon (due to technical issues with 100% recycled nylon)
Cotton - currently the majority of recycled cotton is from pre consumer / post industrial waste from cutting scraps. Pre consumer and post industrial waste is not accepted. This will be reviewed regularly. Please contact Product Legislation (Liz Cash) for further information or to discuss a particular
product
TRIMS Unless otherwise stated in the 'percentages' column for each 2025 raw material, the requirements for Next Generation labelling exclude any requirements for trims e.g. rib trims, interlining, fastenings including buttons, zips, poppers etc., badges, labels, sewing threads, elastic, shoulder pads etc. (NB
this list is not exhaustive)
• 50% is the cut off point. Only products with 50% or more of a 2025 Responsible Fibre can carry Next
Next Generation
50% -94% organic cotton* Generation Labelling
MADE WITH [ORGANIC COTTON*] Full Supply Chain Certification is needed
• the remaining 50% MUST NOT be a conventional version of the named fibre e.g. cotton
[where applicable] i.e. Agent, Product
Manufacturer and Mill
• The component that is made with a 2025 Responsible fibre MUST be clearly indicated e.g. wadding, lining, pile etc.
• Next Generation labelling can only be used on components that are made from 100% 2025 Responsible Fibre e.g.
Next Generation One or more components are 100% organic cotton outer
CONTAINS [ORGANIC COTTON*] 100% organic cotton* • Next Generation labelling MUST NOT be used on components that are less than 100% of a 2025 Responsible Fibre
• the remaining components CAN be a conventional version of the named 2025 fibre e.g. cotton (unless this is not
allowed in the brand/certifiers rules)
Individual Certifications / Branded fibres have minimum percentages below which they will not certify fabrics:
• minimum percentages vary between 5%-30% depending on the brand/certifier (70% for GOTS) - these are indicated in
Below [X%] organic cotton* the main table
Label as conventional fibre composition only • where [X%] is the Branded/Certified fibres • as the fibre cannot be verified below these minimum percentages, it is NOT allowed to be labelled on the care label (or Not possible to certify the 2025 fibre below
e.g. X% [cotton]* minimum certifiable % (usually between 5- anywhere on the product) this %
30%)
e.g. GRS certification does not certify fabrics with recycled content lower than 20%, therefore fabrics with 15% recycled
polyester would need to be labelled as 15% polyester

2025 ATTRIBUTES
In order to record which of your products are meeting Next 2025 Responsible Sourcing Targets, 2025 Attributes have been loaded onto Buyers Range Plan (BRP).
A 2025 Responsible Sourcing report is also available monthly, rolling up the 2025 Attribute information from BRP across the business
For full information on each 2025 raw material, please refer to the 2025 Responsible Fibre Guide and the 2025 Labelling and Claims Guide
If an item has more than one 2025 attribute i) choose the 2025 fibre with the biggest composition to attribute OR ii) choose the 2025 attribute that can only be rolled up via the
BRP attribute (shown below in BOLD) e.g. RDS Feather filled organic cotton pillow - choose 2025 RDS feathers as organic cotton can be rolled up via the % composition
PROCEDURE
1) The 2025 Responsible Sourcing Attributes can be found on Attribute 46 column on BRP (Item Attributes tab). Load this column onto your user view
2) Load the correct 2025 Responsible Sourcing Attribute and the correct 2025 fibre composition name for all items on BRP. The 2025 Responsible Sourcing Guide gives full details of the
certification and verification needed for each 2025 responsible raw material. Listed above is a summary of this document showing fibre composition name + 2025 BRP attribute only
NOTE - The 2025 Responsible Sourcing Attribute must only be loaded if it meets the responsible sourcing certification and verification as laid out in the 2025 Labelling and Claims Guide
3) Where a 2025 Responsible Fibre has a specific name e.g. Lenzing TM EcoveroTM viscose it is not essential that the equivalent 2025 BRP attribute is loaded. This is because the specific fibre name
in the composition can be used to indicate the item meets the 2025 Target
Where a 2025 attribute DOES NOT show in the composition name e.g. RDS Feathers it is essential that the 2025 BRP attribute is loaded. This is because the 2025 target can only be measured
using the 2025 BRP attribute loaded. It is therefore essential that you ALWAYS use the attributes in BOLD above wherever applicable
Next believes it is important that raw materials are sourced in a way that respects the people, animals and environment in our supply chain. In 2018 we launched the 2025 Responsible
Sourcing targets for our key raw materials to support this ambition. This 2025 Responsible Sourcing Manual has been created to provide guidance to our Product Teams and Supply Chain
Partners on our approach to Responsible Sourcing.
It is important we share true and accurate information with our customers to maintain the integrity of the Next brand. The raw materials we source must meet the requirements of this
Responsible Sourcing Manual to ensure they are genuine, fully verified or certified and traceable.
ii) Clearly state what can be promoted to our customers using the Next Generation branding.
Follow the 2025 Labelling & Claims Guide tab for full details. There are certain minimum criteria, such as composition % or verification requirements, below which, promotion can NOT take
place. If promotion can not take place, most products can still be reported in the overall 2025 Responsible Sourcing Targets for the business by using the 2025 Attributes on BRP.
Use this guide to decide which Next Generation information you can use on your product and how this needs to be verified. It covers all on-product

METHODS information for specific fibres
This label release procedure must be used for the following responsible fibre certifications:
Responsible Responsible Feather
Fibre: Organic Cotton Recycled fibres
Wool and Down
Certification: GOTS OCS GRS RCS RWS RDS
Certification Logo:
The Certified Garment/Product Manufacturer must complete a Label Release Form for every PRODUCT
TYPE they supply to ensure the correct Certifiers Name and Licence number is shown on the swing ticket/
packaging. The Label Release Form must then be approved by the supplier's Certification Body (Certifiers
Name)
• Once a Label Release Form for a particular product type has been approved it does not expire or need
renewing
• Every time a Certified Garment/Product Manufacturer uses a Next Generation Swing Ticket for a new
TYPE of product they must follow this label release procedure
• Each certification scheme (GOTS, OCS etc) has its own Label Release Form - the Certified
Garment/Product Manufacturer will have access to these. See GOTS Label Release Form below as an
example
