1. INTRODUCTION
Sheet metalworking includes cutting and forming operations performed on relatively thin
sheet metal. Typical sheet metal thicknesses are between 0.4mm to 6mm. There are
three major categories of sheet- metal processes: cutting, bending and drawing.
● Cutting: To remove the sheet metal material from larger sheets by applying high
forces on the cutting edge
● Bending: A method of bending metal at an angle and forming it into the desired
shape by applying force to it. This method frequently results in a "V" or "U"
shaped metal.
● Drawing: To elongate metal, glass, or plastic. The process is also especially good
for creating cylindrical parts and components.
2. OBJECTIVES
● To measure and draw the appropriate measurements on the aluminum sheet
plate using the given value from the drawing.
● To drill on the aluminum sheet plate by using a drill machine according to the
drawing.
● To use an appropriate method to cut the aluminum sheet using a cutter tool.
● To learn an appropriate step to handle a drilling machine and bending machine
3. APPARATUS
1. Scriber
2. Metal Ruler
3. Rubber/Plastic/Wood Mallet
4. Snip/Cutter
5. Rivet Gun
6. Rivet Bullet
7. L Square
8. Files
1)Cutting
Cutting processes are those in which a piece of sheet metal is separated by applying a great
enough force to cause the material to fail.
2)Drilling
A cutting process where a drill bit is spun to cut a hole of circular cross section and to create
cylindrical holes in a workpiece.
3)Smoothing
To remove unwanted scribes from the product after drilling, and cutting.
4)Bending
A process where the product is bent into a certain angle into its desired shape. We bend the metal
sheet at three parts with 88° bend, 140° bend, and 130° bend angle.

6. QUESTION
I. There are various sectors/industries that involved in Sheet Metal working process.
Give three sectors and product examples that involved in the related fields?
For aerospace sectors the example product is cnc turning parts, for the farming
industries there is a few products example which is Storage facilities like barns and silos
And for the automotive manufacturing industries the product example is oem and odm
parts
II. What are the requirements needed to ensure the quality of product achieved using
this process?
Quality control in the sheet metal industry usually involves the verification of
dimensional properties such as
straightness,flatness,circularity,concentricity,cylindricity,perpendicularity,parallelism,profil
e,and runout
1) Remove jewelries that could cause injury, such as wristwatches, rings, bracelets,
and bangles.
2) Never utilize a file that lacks a handle.
3) Tuck your shirts in before beginning any procedure.
4) Avoid using hammers and punches with mushroom heads.
5) Always use safety footwear.
6) Always wear short sleeves or roll up your sleeves.
7) Avoid using hammers that have a loose head.
8) Avoid putting your hands near moving parts.
9) Ensure that the work item is firmly and securely fastened in the vice.
10) Keep the vice and hand tools tidy.
8. CONCLUSION
Towards the end of this sheet metal project, we gained knowledge in using various equipment
and machinery, including files, center punches, scriber, bending machines and drilling machines.
Additionally, we learned how to write a report for a project. In order to finish this job, we
additionally
converse effectively with one another. Finally, we learned the importance of sheet metal
procedures in the engineering sector.
