01 Worksheet 1A
TITLE OF THE READING
Jose Rizal and the Invention of a National Literature
1. What is the reading all about?
The major subject of the reading is the Rizal Law, also known as Republic Act No. 1425. It is the
Rizal Bill, which was earlier submitted by the Committee on Education. The three signatories
are Jose P. Laurel, Claro M. Recto, and Dr. Jose B. Laurel Jr. In contrast to the Catholic
Church, however, Senators Cuenco, Rodrigo, and Rosales oppose teaching or having a topic
related to the works of Rizal. After a contentious debate between the two parties, the Rizal Bill
was finally submitted.
2. What did you learn from the article?
I learned to have an open mind and be mindful of my surroundings through this article. Knowing
how to make deliberate choices and pick your words wisely while conversing with people would
be helpful, particularly when religion is involved. Because even if it wasn't your intention, some
people could interpret your words incorrectly.
3. How does the article relates to the lesson?
The article pertains to the lesson since Rizal novels are the topic of our discussion. The article
also helps readers comprehend Rizal's history and how he came to be a concern today. Since
Rizal's books are part of the article, students should be aware of how they previously turned in
this article.
How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?
Nationalism is fostered and encouraged in Rizal's writings. We are aware from Rizal's writings
that the Filipino people united against the Spaniard when he was writing them and things were
only getting started. After a year, I would contend that the books have bolstered our nationality
by enabling us Filipinos to reflect on the past and share it with others, including those who are
not Filipino, since we are proud of the fact that we never forget but always forgive.
How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?
Since the works are a part of our history and were written by Dr. Jose Rizal, a national hero who
is well-known to all Filipinos, they help to foster or promote patriotism.
How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?
The books contribute to the development or
promotion of patriotism since they are part of our history and were written by Dr. Jose Rizal, a
national hero who is well-known to every Filipino. Since we worked together in the past to fight
every nation that desired our homeland, volunteering has existed before. Nowadays, being
polite
and helpful regardless of who you are makes the Filipinos famous. Our government or even
regular citizens manage a number of volunteer activities in our nation.

Volunteering has always existed because we've fought with one another against every country
that wants to take our lands. The Filipinos have been well-known in recent years for always
being kind and helpful, regardless of who you are. Many volunteer endeavours in our country
are run by our government or even everyday people.
