SLAC: Utilizing Assessment Data

Assessment helps teachers, learners, parents, and others to understand the depth and breadth of
learning undertaken so that progress and next steps can be discussed and planned. In pursuant to
DepEd Order no. 55 s. 2016 (Policy Guidelines on the National Assessment of Student Learning for
the K to 12 Basic Education Program). Utilizing assessment data will help analyze patterns in
language development, literacy, and numeracy assessments to develop appropriate intervention
programs, and formulate evidence-based policies and plans for instructional practices and learning
environment provisions that impact learning outcomes. Also, DepEd Order no. 29 s. 2017 (Policy
Guidelines on System Assessment in the K to 12 Basic Education Program) School improvement
plans that directly address teaching and learning improvement concerns in the school should always be
based on insights gained from studying data.

In connection with this, Lucena City National High School – Mayao Crossing Extension
conducted the LAC Session last April 13, 2022, at the MCE Learning Resource Room. The activity
focuses on developing a program on the available assessment data and MPS.

The session began at 11:00 in the morning starting with an opening prayer and nationalistic
song through an audio-visual presentation. The teachers were actively energized by the Tagalog-
English translation game and the Plural game by Ms. Mariella Joy M. Belludo. Followed by opening
remarks by Mrs. Rebecca M. Recto, School Head of LCNHS-MCE, who delivered her words
gratefully to the teachers, the committee, and the speaker for making the activity possible. Mr. Louelle
L. Gonzales introduced the speaker Ms. Mary Ann V. Hernandez. The activity was attended by all the
faculty teachers and non-teaching staff.

Ms. Mary Ann V. Hernandez talked about forms of assessment, data use, and the importance of
daily lesson plans in choosing some strategies for the next topic to be discussed during the next lesson.
On the other hand, the speaker also emphasized the MPS from the activities teachers use which help to
determine the lack of competencies in a certain topic.

The activity ended at exactly 12:30 pm after the closing remark by Mrs. Michelle L. Caagbay,
one of the proponents of the activity, emcee, after the giving of certificates to the speaker and
participants.
