8. CONTEMPORARY ISSUES AND PROBLEMS, THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE GLOBAL
RESOLVE
Q1: Explain the phrase "As the pandemic reduced crime, it also increased abuses." What are
the claimed abuses?
I think physical and mental abuse. Covid affected the entire world most especially poor
families. The measures implemented in different nations that require social isolation, the
effects on employment, the state of the economy, the high levels of tension and virus fear,
and new types of relationships have all increased stress levels in the most vulnerable families
and, consequently, the likelihood of violence. In addition, strict lockdowns implemented to
stop the disease's spread have locked kids in their homes, cutting them away from the care
and people who could help them. Many teens developed depression and anxiety which led to
mental abuse. Violence against women and children also increased.
Q2: Will you agree with the government's mandatory vaccination policy? Why or why not?
Yes. This is the government’s solution to control and lessen the spread of disease. Being
vaccinated will help you fight virus and will boost your immune system. If we don’t start from
ourselves, no one can actually save us.
