Although one of the simplest types of valves

used in the UK Water Industry, penstocks
are notoriously difficult to install. Our fully
certified Site Engineers have the expertise
and knowledge to deliver an installation and
maintenance service for any penstock, but will
preferentially select from AVK Group’s range
of high quality penstocks should a supply and
installation package be required.

AND BENEFITS
WORLD CLASS LEAKAGE RATE
Factory pressure and function testing is available for all our penstocks.
Our standard penstock range has a guaranteed maximum leakage rate
of just 0.0005 litres/second per metre of seal when subject to on-seating
head and 0.005 l/s/m when subject to off-seating head.

For resilient sealed penstocks, BS 7775 allows 0.0083 l/s/m when

subject up to 6m on or off-seating head and 0.0128 l/s/m up to 10m on
or off-seating head.

HEAVY DUTY CONSTRUCTION, ROBUST

DESIGN AND EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY
The penstock range is designed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to
ensure optimum rigidity and allow any undesirable deformation to be
designed out pre-production.

The minimum thickness of our penstock’s frame sections is 5 mm

and 6 mm for the door. All of our penstock designs are optimised by
means of FEA analysis, to achieve the optimum compromise between
strength, rigidity, weight and cost. Robot cutting and welding is used for
consistently high quality.

ACID CLEANING AND PASSIVATION

Our stainless steel penstocks are acid bath cleaned and passivated to
ensure maximum corrosion protection and a first class finish.

WRAS APPROVED MATERIALS

All of our penstocks and stop logs are available with WRAS approved
materials for use with potable water.
