“ WHY IS ONLINE ONLINE LEARNING A CHALLENGE TO THE STUDENTS”

Online learning has several advantages. It improves student access to school, supports
those who struggle in conventional educational methods, and lessens social pressure.
The internet is full with articles outlining the advantages of online learning for both
adults and young pupils. But there are also some difficulties that, in some circumstances,
must be overcome.
The concept of online education is still being developed, and new additions are made
to it every day. Although there is great promise, there is yet opportunity for development.
Even traditional universities and colleges have started following online
teaching/learning practices. Those who are new to the concept of online learning might be a
little confused about whether to opt for it or not. Well, here we have listed a few points
describing the benefits and challenges of online learning to help you develop a better
understanding of this form of education.
Here are some of the challenges that you may encounter with online learning.
First thing is it could be a little difficult and confusing for teachers or trainers who had
been using traditional teaching methods for some time to become comfortable with online
learning techniques. On the one hand, online education provides options for keeping courses
open around-the-clock, whereas campus-based courses are constrained to specified time
periods and specific days of the week.
Second In online classes, it can be a little difficult for teachers to gauge each student's
level of learning. In order to create an engaged learning environment in the classroom, it is
tough for teachers and students to get to know one another.
Third the use of online technology by students for the first time can be challenging. In
this situation, teachers must use more effort to inform students of due dates and assist them
in finishing their work.
And the last one although significant technical knowledge is not necessary for online
learning, participants must feel at ease using a computer and connecting to the internet. Slow
internet connections and a lack of supplies can be frustrating in rural places.
There are several ways that online learning can take place. Some of you may be
familiar with MOOCs, or massive open online courses, where hundreds of students can join
from all over the world to attend video lectures to improve their skills. Additionally, they can
respond to pertinent surveys or take tests based on lectures. Many online courses have a
structure more akin to traditional classroom instruction. Due to the fact that K–12 kids
require a teacher's constant attention during class, these courses are more beneficial for
them. Teachers in these courses can assist students in conducting online discussions, giving
homework, and following up with particular students. You have the option of taking these
courses synchronously or asynchronously.
Online classes are not seen to be as beneficial as in-person sessions across the board
when we compare them to other types of learning. Students were asked typical survey
questions about a course while being randomly assigned to online and in-person settings.
However, those who attended in-person classes had higher problem-solving accuracy rates. It
was noticed that when students and teachers met in person, it was simpler for them to talk
about their doubts. Additionally, classroom situations encouraged kids to outperform their
colleagues.
One significant advantage of online learning is that shy pupils find it simpler to
communicate and comprehend because they find it challenging to interact in a classroom
setting. On the other hand, some subjects can be taught more effectively in face-to-face
classroom settings than they can online. As a result, we can also say that the type of students
and the subject matter have a big impact on how well online learning works. In general,
online environments might have a negative effect on pupils who have a weaker intellectual
foundation. It can be challenging for teachers to give lower-performing students the
individualized attention they require when taking programs online. However, these classes
might be more successful for competent and ordinary students.
