CHAPTER 1

1.0 INTRODUCTION (AMIRA)

This report is presents to bind up the project selection process and address the final design to
accomplish the project's criteria. This report describes a design project which has fix (5) main
parts: Introduction, Design Requirements, Concept Generation and Selection, Product Design
and Engineering Analysis, Project Implementation Plan and Resource Plan, and lastly for the
Conclusion.

Introduction for the section 1.1, background of the project is described briefly about
designing a chalet resort in Malaysia with smart technology. An accomplishment of this
project is stated in section 1.2 as the objectives. In section 1.4 is the discussion among the
project team in the scope of project with initial concept design and description of proposed
solution.

In Chapter 2.0 as the design requirements section which briefly explain about the specific
techniques of the project by providing the description of each sub chapters. Collection of
information on the existing power supply and assumption on valid formulate, estimated
power requirements for duration of 50 years to be reported on a yearly basis is gathered in
section 2.1. Section 2.2 is the compilation of collected information about the geographical
constraints of the design location land. The engineering requirements to the technical is
discussed in section 2.3 such as solar energy and hydro energy. Then, the risk assessment,
public health, safety issue and liability of project is compile in section 2.4 to the residences
and tourists as well for the cultural, societal and environmental considerations is valued in
section 2.5. The last subsection of section 2.0 will have the compilation of financial
requirements within land and costing.

On the other hand, discussion among the project team to every concept of design
generation in Chapter 3.0 which provides the descriptions of three (3) concept generation as
Concept Generation 1, Concept Generation 2 and lastly the Concept Generation 3. In section
3.4 form a final concept selection and justification, using technical analysis based on the
design consideration criteria and requirements.
Chapter 4.0 is the outline chapter of product design and engineering analysis. In section
4.1, a complete and clear description for the system and sub-systems of the selected design
including engineering tools as such AutoCAD software and SketchUp program. Next, section
4.2 is the explanation of systems operation and well justified by appropriate engineering
methodologies. As for the design performance is describes the system efficiency and
reliability. The environmental impact assessment (EIA) and public acceptance report as per
Chapter 2 will discussed in section 4.4.

Lastly, the outline of project implementation plan and resource plan describes in Chapter
5.0. This section 5.1 includes methodology for the realization of the project and on how do
the approach will be appropriate to the output(s). This project will have the timeline duration
based on the master plan describes in section 5.2. In section 5.3, the detailed breakdown of
all resources needed is provided. Hence, the market analysis will be discussed in section 5.4.
Otherwise, these chapters will be summarized in Chapter 6.0.

1.1 BACKGROUND
Tourism is important to most developing countries development and particularly to those
that have good climate, scenic beauty and strong cultural heritage. In Malaysia with lots
of views and places, a hideaway found in land nearby Singapore that rolls to warm and
sandy beaches which introduces to build a chalet resort. With respect to chalet resort
building, a growing tendency for the resort land owner to propose the use local design
features as the concept. Through this approach, the opportunity to reveal the beautiful
design as well as the view of beaches will have a satisfying experience. As for the growth
of tourism destinations, smart technologies are introducing to fulfil the direction of
communication with guests while, provide interesting and complete tourism experiences.
An approach to deploying Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Revolution 4.0 to a
smart chalet resort creates a strong privacy and security system along with due attention
of systems for customer service.
In addition, satisfying the rising demand for electricity and implementation of
strategies to avoid excess energy consumption have focused on different techniques. In
order to cope with excessive energy use and providing a constant living climate for
sustainable development. This project seeks to a suitable design in plan and obtaining
strategies to contribute electricity supply with a reasonable amount of renewable energy
sources. Hence, this project can consider in the costs of different renewable technologies.

1.2 OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT

1. To develop a strategic plan to supply electricity with two renewable energy

sources in order to reduce the expense of paying electricity bill to the utility
provider.
2. To investigate energy consumption, installation and management of smart chalet
resort must be matched with current specifications and codes of conduct.
3. To have tourism with natural chalet attractions particularly in Desaru, Pengerang,
Kota Tinggi which will necessarily offer a return on investment to the chalet
operator and landowner.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SOLUTION

i. LAYOUT OF SMART CHALET

In this consideration, a suitable location for this project designed smart chalet. Due to
the financial issues if the location is not suitable as the purpose is to increase the quality
of attraction. Next, proposed drawing layout are including the whole smart chalet. In this
layout, all the facilities are such as chalet’s room, lobby, hall, parking,
playground etc. Based on design should be financially, socially, and environmentally
sustainable.

ii. ELECTRICAL AND POWER SERVICES

Under this consideration, the solution will be including the suitable protection as well
earthing for building and use solar energy and hydro energy for supply instead of TNB
supply. If the supply outage happen the renewable energy will power up the chalet. Then
the uses of L.E.D lightning included as it contributes for efficiency and suitable places for
power point for visitors uses.
iii. RENEWABLE ENERGY

Renewable energy is one of the key factors that need to be consider because the

requirement of this project to include minimum of two (2) new renewable energy for
smart chalet. Solar energy and hydro energy are the proposed renewable energy that
should be suitable regarding the situation. Thus, choosing the right location of
smart chalet on the particular reason to receive optimal sunlight for solar panel while a
stream to provide enough suitable for hydro energy.

iv. MONITORING AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Based on the proposed design of smart chalet, monitoring should include essential

factors such as phone services in each chalet, Wi-Fi for visitors. Lastly, this design needs
two wave radio for communication among staff to avoid miscommunication. Public
Address (P.A) System also include as multipurpose uses for announcement and
entertainment.

v. SAFETY AND SECURITY SYSTEM

For security system, we will propose suitable system for employees and visitor and in
term of personnel access, surveillance, and alarm systems such as first aid kit, fire
extinguisher, fire alarm system, High Definition (HD) Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV)
and hose reel.

vi. INCLUSION INTERNET OF THINGS AND INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

In this consideration, the proposed design easy use for booking and check-in and
checkout application for visitor which will fulfil the criteria of Industrial Revolution 4.0
in this smart chalet. Thus, visitor will feel more privacy.

vii. FINANCIAL IMPLICATION

By having the overall design of the smart chalet, we can discuss about the financial
implication that will reflect on business model, accommodation price, break-even
analysis, market analysis, amount owner own investment, loan repayment, etc.
viii. ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CONSIDERATION

This consideration will discuss on safety, environmental, social, public health, and

cultural considerations within the design element. During the construction period, it is
important to care about Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) campaign. The project
will be located near stream. Thus, it is vital for the construction workers to understand
and notify the important of making project sites is safe place to work in.
