Dear Mayor Dober and City Councilors,

I am writing to you today on behalf of Networks Ministries regarding our 2023 Notice of Property
Tax. We have seen a significant increase this year from $551.71 in 2022 to $2,317.84 for 2023.
As Networks Ministries is a not-for-profit organization in our community we serve many of the
most vulnerable members of our society. In regards to covering monthly expenses such as this
we are solely donor funded, and this increase has put a burden on our organization and ability
to operate our programs that serve our community.

I have reached out to the City of Dawson Creek tax department office where I was able to
gather information that may help us for future years. I was also advised to contact your office to
request Networks Ministries to be considered for a permissive tax exemption. Additionally, I
have reached out to the BC Assessment office to see if a change of classification would help
improve our annual property tax fee’s moving forward as we are currently listed as a Class 6
business.

My request is as to whether there is anything the city is able to do to help lower our property tax
for 2023, this current tax year? As well, can Networks Ministries please be considered for the
permissive tax exemption moving forward.

Any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach me at the contact information below.

Thank you for your time and consideration. And thank you for all you do to support
organizations such as ours, and help to build a stronger community!

Sincerely,
Angelina Schurmann
