WARM UP

Let’s play: CREATING STORIES. Look at the following statements and answer to the

DIALOGUE
Read the following interview out loud with your tutor then switch roles. Pay
attention to the underlined words.

‘‘The gorilla took the boy’’


Interviewer: Who was with you at the zoo that day?
Jane: I spent the day with my mother and younger brother.
Interviewer: Where did you stand?
Jane: I stood very near the three- year old.
Interviewer: Did you see how he fell?
Jane: No, I didn’t. I wanted to see what the gorillas were doing.
Interviewer: What happened when the boy fell?
Jane: At first everyone screamed and then there was a scary quietness in the air.
Everyone held their breath.
Interviewer: Why was everyone so quiet?
Jane: The whole crowd of people waited to see what the gorilla was going to do.
Then Binti Jua took the little boy gently into her arms. She didn´t hurt him. She was
like a real mother to the boy.
Interviewer: Did Binti Jua behave like a human?
Jane: Yes, she did.
GRAMMAR FOCUS
Today we will review the simple past and the most important regular and
irregular verbs.

Past Simple:
It is used to show that something happened and finished in the past. They usually
have a time expression to show when it happened.

PAST SIMPLE

Ex. I went to Paris in 2000.

Simple Past Structures:


Take always into account the auxiliary DID for this tense in order to make
negations and questions.

SUBJECT + VERB (PAST) + COMPLEMENT


Ex. My mother jumped from a parachute last year.
Ex. I wrote an essay for English class.
