LAMITAN CITY DIVISION ATHLETICS MEET 2023


March 7-10, 2023

The Lamitan City Division Athletics Meet (LCDAM) 2023 highlights the
engagement of all schools in both public and private schools
accommodating various activities lined up for the occasion that
includes Field Demonstration (Elementary Level), Cheer Dance and
Drum & Lyre Competition ( Secondary Level) on March 7-10, 2023 at
Sta. Clara CES Athletic Grounds, Lamitan City, Basilan.

As part of practical learning, with this year’s Theme: “Strengthening


Sports for Mental Health, Peace and Inclusive Initiative in
School”, other than academics, this activity aims to showcase skills
and talents of school children learnt from MAPEH that strengthens
self-discipline, teamwork, camaraderie and patience as it develops the
value of respect and sportsmanship among contestants in sports
competitions.

The Field demonstration for elementary schools, the Cheer Leading


and the Drum and Lyre Competition for secondary schools, are
considered the highlights to this event, one of the rare chances of
children/students performing in an open field to the loud beat of
drums, uptempo music, and applause as following the Mechanics &
Criteria set for these competitions.

Field Demonstration
Elementary Level
(Public and Private)
Mechanics
 Competition is open to all grade levels in both public and private
schools with maximum of 40 but not less than 30 number of
participants and shall be presented on March 7, 2023 during
the Opening Program at Sta. Clara CES Athletic Field
 Prescribed content is ZUMBA with maximum of 15 minutes
only but not less than 10 minutes (Entrance and Exit is
included)
 The team that exceeds 15 minutes , shall be deducted 2 points per
minute from the final score.
 Contestants are free to choose their own music piece, steps and
dance costumes.
 Winners shall receive trophy and the declared winners shall merit
the point system of the sports competition.

Cheer Dance Competition
Secondary Level
(Public and Private)
Mechanics

 Competition is open to all grade levels in both public and private


schools with maximum of 40 but not less than 30 participants
inclusive of leaders, banner bearers, dancers, musical instrumental
players, props men and anyone participating in the performance
 Performance shall be on the last day of the event (Closing Program)
on March 10, 2023 at Sta. Clara CES Athletic Field, Lamitan
City,Basilan
 Contestants are free to choose their own music piece, steps and
dance costumes with maximum of 15 minutes only but not
less than 10 minutes (Entrance and Exit is included) .
 The routine may encompass a variety of dance styles such as, but not
limited to, jazz, funk, pop, novelty, etc. and shall include cheer and
yell with a maximum of 1 minutes only ( Entrance and Exit included)
 All compulsory skills by all team members at the same time or in a
ripple (move, flow or wave) except toss. Stunts and lifting are
encouraged. Tossing strictly prohibited.
 The use of vulgar words and suggestive movements (hip thrusting,
inappropriate touching/ slapping, positioning to one another, etc. ) is
prohibited.
 Only cartwheel, front and back roll, front and side aerial , back
walk-over is allowed for the tumbling .
 Pompoms , flaglets , banners are allowed.

 Fireworks display, any powder, oil is strictly prohibited and any
slippery materials are strictly prohibited
 Drums, electric guitars, gongs, and other musical instruments are
allowed as accompaniment to the cheers and yells
 Over-all performance shall not exceed 15 minutes but not less than
10 minutes. The team that exceeds 15 minutes , shall be deducted 2
points per minute from the final score.
 Winners shall receive trophy and the declared winners shall merit
the point system of the sports competition.

DRUM & LYRE COMPETITION
Secondary Level
(Public and Private Schools)
Mechanics

 Competition is open to all grade levels in both public and private


schools with 40 members or more drum and lyre corps accompanied
by majorettes or color guards, but not less than 30 members.
 Competition shall be presented on March 7, 2023 during the
Opening Program at Sta. Clara CES Athletic Field
 Over-all performance shall be 10 minutes but not less than
7 minutes. The team that exceeds 10 minutes , shall be deducted 2
points per minute from the final score ( Entrance and Exit included)
 Each Unit is free to choose music and styles playing the instruments
 Flags and other props such as pompoms, banners, etc. are allowed to
be used.
 The Drum and Lyre and the Majorette Corps shall be judged as one
at Sta. Clara CES Athletic Grounds, Lamitan City, Basilan
 70% of the aggregate score of the Drum & Lyre Group and 30% of
the aggregate score of the Majorette corps total points earned.
Total points shall be basis for the final ranking
 No deduction shall be made for the dropping of the baton.

 Judging and time count shall commence from the start of the first
beat excluding entry.
 No coach, school head or school coordinator shall be allowed to go
near the judges
 Winners shall receive trophy and the declared winners shall merit
the point system of the sports competition.

GENERAL GUIDELINES:

 The Committee In Charge shall provide timer in the time keeper’s


area and shall use the three colored flags (provided by the Division
Sports Committee) to signal the following:

 Time starts after the waving of the green flag and ends upon the
final exit of the contestants.
 Each team shall submit to the In-Charge of Sound System at least
two copies of their music in USBs (one for the competition and one
for the back-up. One representative from each contestants shall be
allowed to stay at the music station to ensure proper coordination
with the performers (for Field Demonstration and Cheer Leading
Competitions)
 The following documents must be ensured by school principals in
respective schools before notifying SDO of their participation (for the
record) :
 List of Students
 Certification from Principal that participants are in grade/school
 Waiver
