Transmission refers to the passing of light through some materials. Different


materials have different ways of transmitting light.
1. Translucent materials allow all lights to pass through them.
Example: Stained glasses and frosted windows
2. Transparent materials transmit light when they allow all the visible light
Waves to pass through them. We can see objects when lights through a transparent
materials, falls of the objects, and then reflects to our eyes.
Example: Clear plastic, glass windows
1. Opaque-materials do not allow light to pass through them.
Example: Concrete walls, wooden doors.

Activity I
Direction: Tell if the following materials can transmit light. Write the word
TRANSMIT if it can transmit LEAVE BLANK if it cannot.

1. Wooden blocks
2. White plastic bag
3. Wax paper
4. Red cellophane
5. Tinted glass
