FACTORS OF ACADEMIC PRESSURE ON GRADUATING STUDENTS

In order to succeed in the current dynamic industrial environment, students must not only advance their
knowledge but also acquire essential skills and abilities. Students' performance is significantly influenced
by a number of factors in the current, intensely competitive academic environment, including social
media, academic quality, family and social ties, etc. According to Aafreen et al., students constantly face
pressure from various sources during their academic careers, which ultimately results in stress among
students.

Stress is a common factor that significantly lowers people's spirits. It happens when a person is unable
to control both their inner and outside emotions. A person's mental health is impacted by stress when it
persists or rises above a specific level and can result in a variety of psychological disorders, including
depression. The inability to feel pleased or fulfilled and emotions of sadness characterize depression, a
condition that affects people all over the world. It is a common disorder nowadays, and its frequency is
increasing. Depression was listed as the third most common disease in the world by the World Health
Organization, and it was anticipated that it would overtake diabetes by 2030.

Various researchers who looked at stress and depression from the perspective of performance found
that they had a negative impact on students' academic performance. They claimed that students
frequently struggle with depression. Students' social interactions and career opportunities are limited,
and it has an impact on their physical and mental health. On the subject of the connection between
stress and performance, the present literature offers contradictory findings. Lazarus theory, which
characterizes stress as a relationship between an individual and his environment and examines how it
impacts students' depression level and, ultimately, their academic performance, is used in the current
research to investigate stress among students from family and academic perspectives.
