The main factor that pushes and pulls Malaysians to eat is eating a well-balanced, diverse
diet that allows us to acquire the proper quantity of nutrients every day keeps us healthy,
helps us fight illness, maintains our energy levels, keeps our thoughts active, influences our
mood, and many other vital things. Regular meals also help punctuate the day, especially if
you are living alone, or are unable to get out of the house often. Other than that, Malaysia is
a country that have a hot weather and Malaysian need to eat often to build an energy to go
through the day that we will lost energy because we are sweating due the hot weather.
There are many types of restaurant in Malaysia which is restaurant that introduce local food,
western, fast food restaurant, Japanese food, Korean food and many more that make
Malaysian get attractive to explore in eating.

QUESTION 2: Analyze the above case, highlight three (3) related theories on the
topics available in HTM130.

Answer:

Three related theories on the topics available in HTM130 is forms of service, restaurant
ownership and franchise restaurant’s food service concept.

Firstly, the related theories on the topics available in HTM130 is forms of service. There are
many type of service but the service that related is quick services. Quick service is like fast-
food restaurant like KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Domino’s Pizza that have
a counter service as people can just order, pay and get their food also they can just drive-
thru which is order and wait in the car. This type of service can make other people that are in
rush easier and does not have to standing and waiting at the counter.

Secondly, the related theories on the topics is restaurant ownership. In this case, I can relate
to chain restaurants. It is important to remember that these popular restaurants only make
up a minor part of the Malaysian food scene. The total number of units for all 25top chains is
around 3,900, accounting for less than 2% of the country's 155,000 restaurant locations.
That's a strong indication that there's still lots of room for chain penetration in Malaysia.
Operators are paying attention. For example, in the case study, McDonald, KFC, Pizza Hut
and many more that use quick-service explains the data about Malaysia’s chain
environment.

Lastly, the related theories on the topics is franchise restaurant’s food service concept.
There are agreements in place between the franchisee, who is an individual business owner,
and the franchisor, who is a franchise company. For examples, KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King
and many more that use this type of concept.

have also opened their first Malaysia units. And the UK’s Costa Coffee—now owned by
Coca-Cola—has also recently inked a master franchise deal to grown further in the market.
These companies are betting that Malaysia is ripe for chain development.

Other than that, Players looking to make a splash in the Malaysian market should always

of brands specializing in chicken, beverages, sweets and other fast foods, and consumers’

As a conclusion, I think the trends for food industry in Malaysia is Malaysian people always
eat outside and prefer an easy way to eat such as drive thru for fast food restaurant and
delivery service such as Pizza Hut, McDonald and many more. The trends in Malaysia
always change but never forget about their culture that represent Malaysia. Malaysian also
open with other culture foods nowadays. Because of its ethnic past, Malaysia provides a
wide range of cuisines. Each ethnic group has its own distinct flavours and cooking
traditions. Most people assume that ethnic groups naturally choose food from their own
cultures, but in these age of food trends, where fusion food has become increasingly
widespread, this may not be the case. As more vendors from across the world enter the F&B
sector, introducing their unique local dishes to Malaysia, a colourful palette of delicacies has
been introduced to the market over the years.
