TOWING

The wheel can be steered 40° each side from the center. Before starting to
tow the helicopter, the personnel should follow the next instructions:

CAUTION
TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO GYRO EQUIPMENT, THE TOWING
AND GROUND HANDLING OF HELICOPTER MUST BE
PERFORMED AT LEAST 20 MINUTES AFTER THE ELECTRICAL
POWER HAS BEEN SWITCHED OFF OR WITH THE ELECTRICAL
ON. (ONLY AW109E / A109S)

• Clear departure area of support equipment, such as work stands,

power units, etc.
• Disengage nose gear centering lock by setting “NOSE WHEEL LOCK”
lever on right side of front console to OFF.
• Connect tow bar to holes of nose wheel fork. If applicable, remove
wheel chocks.
• Make sure that rotor brake is applied.
• Unlock main landing gear wheels by releasing “PARK AND EMER
BRAKE” lever on front console.

CAUTION
THE MAXIMUM TOWING (TURNING) RADIUS OF THE NOSE
WHEEL IS 40° FROM THE CENTERLINE. THIS IS INDICATED BY
A RED MARK AT THE LH AND RH SIDES OF THE NOSE DOOR.

• Tow the helicopter slowly.
