throughout the show
Act 1-
 3 mins – Pyrotechnic from speaker
The speaker is on the left side of the stage. Doc’s voice recording becomes
increasingly faster. Speaker begins to let off smoke. Marty grabs his guitar and there
is a screeching sound. The pyrotechnic comes following Marty strumming the guitar.
AMPLIFIER EXPLODES with loud bang and smoke.
 4 mins – Pyrotechnic from light Above
Once the above effect has finished Marty says “Rock and Roll” which cues a spark
from the top of Doc’s house. The house then splits and goes off stage.
 19 mins – Strobe lighting at front of stage for 5 seconds
This effect happens during the song “Hello” which is in a scene with the McFly
family onstage. Towards the end of the song all members of the family are singing
facing the audience. After the line “Hello, Hello, Hello” is sung there is a 2 second
strobe blast followed quickly after with a three second strobe blast.
 20 mins – Loud sound effect and blinding lights
The DeLorean car comes on to centre stage from towards the back, just after the
“Twin Pines Mall” sign is displayed. As the car moves forward there is a loud
sound. There is also strobe lighting for a short amount of time.
 20 mins – CO2 jets
Shortly after the entrance of the car, when Doc gets out and stands at the rear of it,
CO2 emerges loudly and powerfully from the car and sprays Doc for approx. 2
seconds.
 30 mins – Blinding lights
During the sequence in which Marty travels back to 1955 there is strong strobe
lighting and flashing lights for the whole duration, so if sensitive to flashing lights it’s
best to shield the eyes during this scene.
Loud sound effects come shortly after the “Keep Out” sign is displayed on the
outside of the barn and blinding lights are aimed directly at the audience for a two
second blast.
 56 mins – Two flashlights pointing towards the audience
When Marty and Doc are heading back to the barn to look for the car, 2 flashlights are
shone towards the audience so the light may shine in the eyes of the audience for
around 6 seconds. Marty and Doc are at the front of the stage at this point.

Act 2-
 1 min – Strobe lighting for 5 seconds
 2 mins – Strobe lighting for 3 seconds
 4 Mins – Strobe lighting for 10 seconds
All of the above happens throughout the opening song “21st Century” The strobe
lighting is intermittent and consistent flashing lights also occur.
 17 mins – Pyrotechnic on spark plug
 17 mins – Fire on model town
 17 mins – Fire extinguisher
Marty and Doc are in Doc’s house practising the Time Travel sequence with the 3D
model. After Doc “Ready, Set, Release” there is a quick spark on the model town
which creates a 5 second fire sequence. This is then extinguished by Doc on stage. There
are 3 blasts of fog from the extinguisher and the fire should be out.
 18 mins – Second spark
There is a second spark on the model town after Doc says “Nonsense, this is a small
setback, meaningless” and Doc again extinguishes it with a blast from the fire
extinguisher.
 43 mins – Blinding lights
Blinding lights and disco lights are used throughout the whole song “Johnny B. Goode”
Marty’s line before the song is “It’s an oldie where I come from”
 46 mins – Lightning strike
The car is in the middle of the stage and Doc is checking the time on his watch as the
lightning strikes.
 51 mins – Blinding lights and sound effects
 51 mins – Pyrotechnic on car hook
 51 mins – Car tracks flame
All of the above occur throughout the travelling back to the future sequence. There are
blinding lights and loud sound effects used.
Once the car goes off stage there is a spark when the hook from the Flux capacitor rod
hits the wire. The car leaves behind flame tire tracks that are alight.
There is strobing and very loud sound effects at the end of the whole sequence.
 58 mins – Loud sound effects
At the end of the final scene after George introduces “Marty McFly and his band the
Pinheads” there is a loud and rumbling sound effect used as the song “Power of Love”
begins
 62 mins – Car special effect in front of the Safety Curtain line
After the song “Power of Love” there is a special sequence with the car and flashing
lights throughout.
As the screen flashes up with “THE END” there is a loud rumbling sound effect used.
