Learning Objectives

1. Use the expression asking and giving opinion.
2. Improve their writing skill.

Part 1  Giving Opinion


Opinion is used to express a belief about something in our daily life, sometimes we find a certain issue that we
want to give our opinion on it. Below some phrases to express the opinion as follows:
1. Asking Opinions
 How was your holiday?
 How do you like your new house?
 What do you think of John’s idea?
 How do you feel about staying in Indonesia?
2. Expressing opinions
 I found a new interesting place.
 I think that idea is very brilliant.
 In my opinion, it’s a good idea.
 As for me, I think staying in Indonesia is very challenging
 I think……
 I suppose……
 I am pretty sure that……

Writing: Describing Place


The text below is an example description of place. Read it carefully, then try to make similar paragraph about
your college in a group.

My House

My house is big and beautiful with yellow color, there are many flowers in a small park. There is a garage at the
side of the house. It is enough space for one car. There is a table and three chairs in the living room. A buffet
stands up in the corner of the room, my flower pictures are on the wall. Then, opposite of the door there is a
cupboard. My bookshelf on the right of the window. There four chairs and a table in the dining room. A lovely
garden is located in the behind of my house. There is one television on a family room. I have two bathrooms in
my house, there are four bedrooms in my house.
