1. Purpose and Applicability

The purpose of this document is to describe the procedure of installation of the FTDI drivers for the
USB-RS-232 converter on a pc running Windows as operative system
This procedure has been tested on Windows 7 64 bit, Home Premium.
This procedure has to be executed only in case you have to reinstall the operative system (or in
case a pc is not provided with the instrument), else the device drivers are installed at the factory.
This document applies to Miura (single and double Arms), Miura 200 and Miura One.

3. USB-RS232 converter
Miura family instruments are now equipped with an USB-RS-232 converter which requires a specific
driver to be installed on the operative system.
In order to correctly install it, see the chapter below before to connect the instrument to the pc.

3.1. Driver installation

1. Select the installation package called CDM20824_Setup.exe

2. Click on the right mouse button and choose “Run as Administrator”.
3. The command prompt window should appear to notify the installation progress. (On some
system has been observed that the point number 2 has to be executed twice)
4. At the end of the installation process, connect the instrument to the pc using the USB cable
provided.
5. Wait that the system recognizes the new hardware and declares it as “Ready to use”
6. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager, as shown in figure 1

7. Select “Ports (COM & LPT)”

8. Select USB Serial Port (COMx) as shown in figure 2

9. Click on the right mouse button and select “Properties”

10. Choose “Port settings” tab of the shown window
11. Click on “Advanced” button
12. Assign, if free, the COM number 1, selecting it on the list box instead of the default one
(usually COM3, as shown in the figure 3)

13. Click on the “OK” button

14. Click on the “OK” button
15. Restart the system

4. Connectivity check

After the reboot of the operative system, you should check the connectivity among the Miura
software and the instrument.
Close instrument cover, then start the software and wait for the initial hardware reset.
In case of an alarm belonging a poor connectivity through the serial cable, go to “System Config”
menu and select the correct serial port number, then click on “Save” button before restarting the
software.
