Description 1 RHUB5961 Description

1 RHUB5961 Description

The RRU HUB (RHUB) converges CPRI data from remote radio frequency (RF) modules. It
provides the following functions:
 Receives downlink data from the baseband unit (BBU) and forwards the data to pico
remote radio units (pRRUs), and forwards uplink data of pRRUs to the BBU.
 Supplies power to pRRUs using power over Ethernet (PoE).
 Connects to pRRUs through Ethernet cables.
1.1 Exterior and Physical Ports
This section describes the exterior of an RHUB5961 and its physical ports.
1.2 Version Differences
This section describes the version mapping information and application differences of the
RHUB5961 in different versions.

1.2 Version Differences

This section describes the version mapping information and application differences of the
RHUB5961 in different versions.
Earliest mapping software version: SRAN15.1
The application differences of the RHUB5961 in different versions are as follows:
 In SRAN15.1 and SRAN16.0, only the CPRI0 and CPRI1 ports can provide optical fiber
connections. The CPRI topology on the main chain can only be a star or chain topology,
rather than a dual-chain topology.
 From SRAN16.1 onwards, the CPRI0 to CPRI4 ports can provide optical fiber
connections. The CPRI topology on the main chain can be a star, chain, or dual-chain
topology.

RHUB5961
Description 2 RHUB5961 Technical Specifications

For the RHUB, the no-load power consumption and half-load power consumption are measured at an
ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F); the full-load power consumption is measured at an ambient
temperature of 60°C (140°F). A 10% deviation from the actual measured value exists. These power
consumption specifications do not include power consumption arising from pRRU power supply. The
actual power consumption depends on factors such as the number of connected pRRUs, number of
configured carriers, cable types, and cable lengths.

Power Supply

Item Specifications

Input power 90 V AC to 290 V AC

Onsite AC power is supplied to an RHUB over a power cable.

Type C upper-level AC circuit breakers or slow-blow fuses must be used. One circuit breaker
is configured for each RHUB. The maximum current must not exceed 16 A. Table 2-3
describes the recommended configurations.

CPRI0 to CPRI3 4 The RHUB supports four-level cascading
for inter-RHUB RF combination. If the RF
input mode is not used, the maximum
optical fiber length between the BBU and
the last-level RHUB is 10 km (6.21 mi.). If
the RF input mode is used, the maximum
optical fiber length between the BBU and
the last-level RHUB is 3 km (1.86 mi.) by
default but can be extended to 10 km (6.21
mi.) if the radius of the donor cell is
modified to 35 km (21.75 mi.).
CPRI_E0 to N/A The maximum distance between the RHUB

a: In single-operator scenarios, RF input is not supported in LTE.

RF combination enables one cell sector equipment group to have one LTE or NR carrier on one or more
RF modules. The RHUB performs RF combination on uplink signals, and replicates and distributes
downlink signals.
