Self-Assessment and Improvements

(Week 4: October 10-14, 2022)

As I begin my internship, I am aware that I am about to embark on an experience that could change
my life. For me, internships have a lot of potential for learning and development. Sometimes this learning and
development occurs automatically or without a conscious desire to learn, but most of the time, we learn from
experience when we make a conscious effort to observe, reflect on, and analyze our experiences. It is largely
up to us what we learn or take away from our internship and life experiences. Basically, taking an active role
in directing our learning will make our internship experience more rewarding and fruitful.

These past weeks, I have invested a great deal of time preparing for my internship and I am now
investing a lot of time and energy into completing it successfully. During my work experience this week at, I
was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a
project through Engr. Joy Fransisco, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and
completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. As an intern and a college student, I
have been enjoying the company of my engineers, and co-intern. Although our internship opportunities are
not compensated financially, what is most important is that I have found an internship that is related to my
field of study and am making the most of it.

After this week of internship made me realized how diverse engineering fields and there is so much
new knowledge to learn. I believe Manila Department of Engineering and Public Work should keep this aspect
of the Engineering course because it provide students the experience we need to find a job later on. This
week, I ended up learning a lot more than I thought I would be able to in the time allotted.
