1. On the basis of KMT of gases show that average translational kinetic energy of gas
molecules is directly proportional to absolute temperature of gas.
OR
It is observed that when a mercury bulb of a glass thermometer is put in flame, the
column of mercury first descends and then rises. Explain it.

2. The difference of temperature between a hot and a cold body is 120 °C. If the heat engine
is 30 % efficient, find the temperature of the hot and the cold body? (400k, 280k)

3. Prove that . Name the physical quantity which has these units.

4. A capacitor of 10 µF is charged to a potential difference of 220 V. It is then disconnected


from the battery. Its plates are then connected in parallel to another capacitor and it is
found that the potential difference falls to 100 V. What is the capacitance of the second
capacitor?

5. Three resistors each of 50 Ω (R1 = R2 = R3 = 50 Ω) can be connected in four different ways.


Find equivalent resistance (RE) for each combination. (150Ω, 50/3Ω 100/3Ω, 75Ω)

6. A proton accelerated through 1000 volt is projected normal to a 0.25 T magnetic field.
Calculate the following:- (i) The kinetic energy of the proton on entering the magnetic

Q2. i) Prove Cp – Cv = R
ii) Derive the formula for toque on a current-carrying rectangular coil in the uniform
magnetic field. OR Derive an expression for the force on a current carrying conductor in
a uniform magnetic field.
iii) Derive the formula for equivalent capacitance OR resistance of parallel OR series
combination.
iv) Define electromotive force and derive the formula for terminal voltage of a battery. OR
How do we convert galvanometer into Ammeter OR voltmeter? Derive relevant formula.
v) Define potential gradient and electric intensity. Derive a relation between them. OR
Define electric flux and describe diffract cases of electric flux. OR Describe the working
