Manufacturing Sciences
MANF 1131- WELCOME
Welcome!
• My name is Robert Weil. E-mail robert.weil@durhamcollege.ca
• I’ve been teaching at Durham College since 2015
• Over 30 years in manufacturing and machining, in the Automation,
Automotive and Military Aerospace fields. I’ve manufactured conveyor
systems for the health care industry, built dies for BMW, Ford, and
Mercedes/AMG, and I was part of the manufacturing team that created a
new top secret transmission system for the AH-64E Apache Attack
Helicopter.

What I will endeavour to do each week:


• Provide clear, detailed instructions on our tasks, and ensure you have a
full understanding of your assignments.
• Answer your questions by e-mail within 24-48 hours time.
• If you send me an email make sure you identify the class your are in.
Day, time or CRN …
• Notify you as soon as I am aware should there be any changes to class
schedule, assignments or other important matters.

In return, I expect you to:
• Attend class, and be on time.
• Pay attention, listen, participate.
• Participate in group work, in-class activities and assignments. A note about
this: the course syllabus states you need to attend the lectures to gain
access to the Lab. If you are late to a Lab or fail to attend a Lecture you will
not be permitted access to the Lab. (The door will be locked)
• Ask questions and contact me if you need support, clarification or assistance.
• If you send me an email, please identify the class your are in.

• Should there be an issue (such as illness, unforeseen


circumstances, family situation, etc.), you need to
connect with me immediately so we can come up with a
game plan to ensure your work is completed.

• This course also utilizes DC Connect. If you are having trouble with
DC Connect, please let me know as soon as possible, contact IT for
support issues.
• Unfamiliarity with the system is not an excuse for a missed Quiz!

• The school has a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism. If you are
caught plagiarizing work, you can face serious penalties, up to
and including removal from your program.

2 jaw clamps 14%

❖ After each lecture, over the weekend a quiz based on


the class lecture content will be issued.
❖ Open at 4:00 PM Friday, closed 12 mid night Sunday
❖ A missed quiz will result in a grade of zero, no
exceptions
