Inspection Team:

The joint inspection team comprised of the following:

1 Engineer Adegboyega Obe -Infrastructure Engineer

2 Engineer Salam Gbolahan - Infrastructure Engineer

3 Mr. Babarinde Abass –Safeguard

4 Engineer Rotimi Olulana –Consultant Representative

Methodology:

The site visit was conducted through a visual inspection of the road, taking note of the road
alignment, drainage and culverts, pavement conditions and road furniture to ascertain
proposed sizes and adequacy in compliance with standards of LVRM and climate resilience
design.

The team also conducted interviews with key stakeholders, including road users, community
leaders, and project managers. The review criteria included safety, accessibility, sustainability,
and cost-effectiveness.

Observations:

The site visit identified several design issues that need to be addressed to improve the
condition and effectiveness of the road. Specifically, the following issues were identified:

Poor drainage: The road did not have adequate drainage systems, leading to erosion and
damage to the road surface.

Inadequate road width: The road was too narrow to accommodate expected traffic volumes,
leading to congestion and safety concerns.
Poor pavement condition: The road pavement was in poor condition, with potholes and cracks.

Lack of road furniture: The road did not have adequate road furniture, such as signage and
markings, to guide road users and improve safety.

Recommendations:

To address the identified issues, the site visit team recommends the following:

Install adequate drainage systems to prevent erosion and damage to the road surface.

Widen the road to provide adequate space for expected traffic volumes and improve safety.

Repair and rehabilitate the road pavement to improve its condition and longevity.

Install adequate road furniture, such as signage and markings, to guide road users and improve
safety.

Conclusion:

The recommendations provided above (from the Inception report by the consultant were not
fully in compliance with LVRM and climate resilience design.

In view of this, the consultant has agreed to incorporate total compliance with design
specifications in LVRM and climate resilience design approach in the draft report to be
submitted to ensure that roads are safe, accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective without
compromising on quality and delivery date.
