Strategic Justification

This section will discuss about the visions or strategies made by the UAE, and it will describe
how our proposed project is consistent with UAE’s visions.

The increase in population and energy demand with the increase of carbon print made it
important for UAE to create alternative sources of energy instead of using traditional sources
such as oil and gas. As a result, UAE had made many initiatives with the goal of creating
renewable and clean energy sources with less impact on the environment.

The UAE had several visions and missions related to energy and sustainability and they are
listed below:

o The UAE Energy 2050 strategy is an initiative that was launched in 2017, it aims to
improve the energy sector by increasing the use of the combination of renewable,
nuclear, and clean energy sources to 50% instead of the current 25%. Also, it aims to
reduce the foot
o print by 70% and increase the consumption efficiency of the users and corporations
by 40%.

o UAE’s Net Zero 2050 national Strategic initiative aims to reduce greenhouse
emissions to limit climate change temperature change to 1.5 C.

o Environment Vision 2030 was developed by Abu Dhabi to enhance it’s reputation
on preserving resources and providing a better quality of life to everyone. The Vision
had priorities in minimizing the effect of climate change and providing cleaner
unpolluted air.

o The seventh goal in Sustainable Development created by the United Nations aims
to make 17.5% of the total energy consumed from renewable energy.

o National Water and Energy Demand Management Programme emphasize on

improving the efficiency of the three power-consuming sectors: transport, industry
and construction. It aims to reduce the energy demand by 40% and increase the use of
renewable energy by 50% of the total power output.

o The UAE Environment Policy was agreed upon in Nov 2020, the policy contains
eight main points but most importantly it aims to reduce air pollution and limit the
effect of climate change. The policy also aims to preserve natural resources and
secure the safety of food products.

Summarizing the visions, UAE aims to increase the usage of renewable energy, reduce green
gas emissions and to reduce the footprint. Our proposed project aims to increase efficiency,
maximize energy production and reduce the downtime of maintenance and its goal is
consistent with the vision mentioned.

Furthermore, the life span of the solar panels is expected to be 25 – 30 years but the
degradation effect reduces this amount. Degrading of solar panels means that solar panels are
producing less energy from the same amount of sunlight, and it happens because of external
factors like weather and heat.
In fact, UAE’s harsh weather has a high increase of effect on degradation, and our solution
works in reducing this problem which in turn improves the returns of the long-term
investment of the solar power plants.

Profit wise, environment wise, Society.

Vision 2050 The UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative aligns with the Paris Agreement, which calls
on countries to prepare long-term strategies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and limit the rise
in global temperature to 1.5 C compared to pre-industrial levels.
