Definition of Terms

For the reader’s clearer understanding of the present research study, the following terms
were defined operationally:

Analytical Study. In which the Researcher will take an action to gather the data and perform
action to identify the main issues and causes of the present research study by addressing the issue
to formulate the methods in solving the current problem or issue.

Confucianism. Is an ancient Chinese belief system, which focuses on the importance of personal
ethics and morality and is human-centered virtues for living a peaceful life. Confucianism ethical
teachings to the students of Grade 11 HUMSS

Confucius. A Chinese philosopher and politician who lived during 551-479 and the founder of
the religion of Confucianism which focused on human nature, ethics and morality. He wished to
see peace and harmony restored and a return to order.

Ethical System. One of the practices of Confucianism, which centered in conducting the right
and justified decisions by distinguishing what is right and what is bad through human nature by.
Its what makes a person behave, treat others within the society.

Harmony. Refers to living together happily and peacefully rather than fighting or arguing
amongst themselves. Being friendly towards each other, being nice and respecting one another
instead of insulting them resulting to fights among themselves.

Morality. Is a set of personal or social standards for good or bad behavior and character.
Morality enables people to choose the right and wise decisions and refrain from doing the bad
things through distinguishing the good and bad.

Merits. Refers to an action that determines the worthiness and excellence of someone whose
action is recognized and acknowledged, therefore is rewarded and credited for doing the
righteous acts through intrinsic, the ability to judge what is right and what is wrong.
