The three main rights of passengers under the Air Passenger Bill of Rights in the Philippines are the

right
to compensation, right to reimbursement, and the right to accommodation. In case of flight cancellation
attributable to the carrier, passengers have the right to either be reimbursed the full cost of the ticket or
be rerouted to their destination at no extra cost. Passengers also have the right to compensation ranging
from 5,000 to 15,000 pesos, depending on the distance of the flight, as well as the right to accommodation,
such as free meals and refreshments, hotel accommodation, and transportation to and from the airport.

A common carrier, such as an airline, is required to observe the highest degree of care because it has a
responsibility to transport its passengers safely and efficiently. The carrier is in a position of trust and
confidence, and passengers rely on them to provide safe transportation. In the event of any negligence or
failure to observe this duty of care, the carrier may be held liable for any damages or injuries suffered by
the passengers. This is why the law imposes a high standard of care on common carriers.
