I. Objectives
1. Identify and cite example of speed distance, and time.
2. Appreciate the significance of speed, distance and time in real life
situation
3. Solve problem speed, distance and time.

II. Subject Matter :

Topic: Calculating Speed, Distance and Time Learners Material for Grade 6
Pages: Page 5-7
Materials: Projector, whiteboard, marker, laptop, and eraser

A. Routine Activity

1. Prayer
2. Motivation: I Love Math Song
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Pre-Activity: Guess the word by analyse the given pictures.

B. Development of the Lesson

1. Definition Speed, Distance & Time ,
2. Give the unit of measurement of Speed, Distance, and Time
3. Show how to calculate the speed ,distance and time

C. Illustrate Example ….

Speed
1. Find the speed when, distance is 280km and time is 4 hours.

Distance
Speed =
Time

280 km
4hrs

= 70 km/hrs.

2. A car travel 50 km in 3 hours. Find the speed of the car.

Distance
Speed =
Time

= 50km÷3hours
= 70 km/hr.

Distance
1. A family travelled from Quezon City to Batangas City at an average
speed of 60 km/h. for a total of 2 hours. How far they travel?

Distance = Speed × Time

= 60 km/hr. × 2 hrs.
= 120km
2. Calculate the distance that you will travel if you will drive for 3 hours at
70 km/h.

Distance = Speed ×Time

=70km/hr. × 3hrs.
=210km.

Time
1. Elmer rides on his bike with a speed of 6 km. per hour. How long will he
take to travel a distance of 15 km.?

Distance
Time=
Speed

15 km
6 km/hr.

= 3 hrs.

2. How long does it take to travel 180 kilometres at 45 km/hr.?

Distance
Time=
Speed

=180km÷45km
=4hrs.

Practices Exercise: (Try Me )

1. A snail moves 80mm at a speed of 10 mm/s. How long does it takes?

2. Audrey is traveling to Cavite. He drives at a steady 90km per hour for 2

hours. Calculate the distance he travelled.

3. Calculate the average speed if a person travels 100 kilometres in two

hours.

Generalization

Direction: Find the area of the following composite figures

1. Calculate the distance. Use the formula (D= S x T )

18km/h for 2hours

2. Calculate the speed use the formula ( S= D/T)

10m in 30s.

3. Calculate the time. Use the formula ( T= D/S)

Drives at an average of 45 mi/hr. on a journey of 135 miles
Evaluation:

III. Solve the Problem

Direction: Read and solve the following problem and show your
complete solution on your answer sheet and don’t forget to box your
final answer.

1. A man rides the bike with speed of 60 km in 3hours.Calculate the speed

of the bike

2. A tricycle covers a distance of 150 km at a speed of 30 km/hour. Find

the time taken to cover the distance.

3. A bus has an average travel speed of 65kph. It travelled a distance of

455 km. How long dis the bus travel?

4. Lilly is driving a scooter with the speed of 20 km/hr. for 2 hours. How
much distance will she travel?

5. A bicycle rider has a speed of 45km/hr. for 3 hrs. How far did he travel?

Assignment
Direction: Find the area of the following composite figures

1. Find the time :

450 km at a speed of 50 km per hour?

2. Find the speed

Distance of 142 km and time is covered 2 hours

3. Find the Distance

10 km/h for ½ hour
