Decreasing stitches are labelled as ‘2dctog’ and should be worked into the front
loops; they are worked as follows:
Insert hook into 1st stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch (2 loops on
hook), then insert hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch (3
loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
(2dc, 1dc) x 6 means that the part in brackets (2dc, 1dc) needs to be repeated 6 times.
The numbers in brackets at the end of a Round e.g. (9) are the stitch counts for each
Round.
BLO. This means work the stitches into the Back Loops Only, so instead of going under
the 2 loops in the stop of a stitch, you just work into the back loop.
Tapestry Crochet. The majority of this pattern requires tapestry crochet—this is to get
the purple patches to sit within the work. There is a tutorial at the end of this pattern
that shows the basics of carrying yarn and swapping colours throughout a project.
Assembling Sulley. Most items will need to be stitched to another item, so when fas-
tening off it is recommended to leave a long tail for this purpose. Assembly instruc-
tions are at the end of the pattern.

Next, pin the arms to the top of the neck hole, make sure they are evenly spaced and
they look right when you look at him from the front. Then sew them securely in place.
Position the head, his head kind of sits forward a little bit and he has hunched shoul-
ders, so the head should be quite low down. Pin it as best you can, then sew in posi-
tion.
Sew along the neck hole that is closest to the head first, then sew again from the back
of the neck hole and pull it tight. If there are any gaps to the sides, stitch those up as
well.
Also put a stitch underneath the chin and sew his head to the body, this will keep it
from flopping around.
Finally, pin the tail on the back between the legs, and neatly sew in
position.
