That’s Expensive!!!

The prices of meat and vegetables have increased because of pandemic. Many people
are jobless so they cannot afford to buy the foods because of high prices. The poor is totally
affected by the pandemic because they don’t have stable income to support their family if the
price of foods like meat and vegetables are high. For example, the price of pork per kilo in
Cavite ranges from PhP 400-500 it will cause burden in the poor family since they don’t have
enough money or income to buy for it.
The spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the actions taken in response
to it drastically shifted the increase of prices especially in the basic essential food consumption
as stay-at-home orders went into effect. As pandemic continue, it will cause supply-demand
mismatch and perhaps upward pressure on prices that significantly affects the people globally.
Food prices affect the incomes of ordinary people like farmers who make their living from
selling food. Falling food prices are good for people who have enough income but can cause
real economic pain for jobless especially the poor and ordinary producers of food whose daily
income are depended on it.
Let us consider pandemic as a challenge and we should not defeat by our own fear.
Start to save money and learn to be a wise not just as buyer or consumer but in making a
