The Earth’s glaciers have been receding silently for more than half a century in the

face of the unstoppable advance of climate change and all this is caused by humans.

The increase in the earth’s temperature has undoubtedly been responsible for the
melting of glaciers throughout history. Today the speed with which climate change is
advancing could extinguish them in record time.

Consequences:

 Impact on the climate:

Glacier melt at the poles is slowing down ocean currents, a phenomenon
related to global climate change and the succession of increasingly extreme
weather wents around the globe.

 Disappearance of species:
The melting of the glaciers will also cause the extinction of many species,
since it is the natural habitat of many terrestrial and aquatic animals.

What would happen if all the ice on the planet melted?

When the ice disappears, less solar radiation cools, so a large amount of energy
would accumulate, raising the global temperature.
It’s important to know that all that extra fresh water is diluting the salt levels in the
ocean. And that inferferes with the balance of the Gult Stream, one of the most
important ocean currents in the world. The result is weather extremes especially
tropical storms and hurriacanes in places like the Gulf of Mexico, but also more
frequent flood and droughts on both sides of the Atlantic. All of this is going to affect
a lot of people.
