Extended Abstract:
Research Area: Signal Processing
Objectives: Generation of Layout, Post-Layout Extraction and Fabrication of Operational Amplifier

This research work describes a three-stage op-amp design using Miller compensation and Miller compensation
with source degeneration technique. The first op-amp design uses Miller compensation around the second stage,
while the second op-amp design uses Miller compensation around the second stage and source degeneration in
the third stage. Two output compensation capacitors are used to further optimize the stability of the system. The
aim of this work was to isolate the feedback path between input and output stage. The two op-amp designs created
are based on the same architecture which is composed of differential pair with NMOS current mirror (1st stage),
Operational Transconductance Amplifier (2nd stage), and Inverter (3rd stage). The proposed op-amp supplied
from ±0.9V power source, has been designed using Cadence Virtuoso at 22 nm node. After simulation, the DC Gain
of the optimized design has been determined to be 120.64 dB with Gain Margin of 19.95 dB and Phase Margin of
40.95 deg.
