ENVISIONING MINDANAO
IN THE FUTURE

NICCOLINO RAFFAELE OBLENDA

Introduction

I envision Mindanao an
island that has experienced
significant economic and
infrastructural development
while still retaining its natural
beauty and cultural heritage.
It is a future where progress
and growth go hand in hand
with the conservation of the
island's pristine landscapes.

Progress

The art was in the early progress of development. The art starts as an island, then slowly
transforms into a modern city layout. Many infrastructures will soon be created on this
layout. The presence of modern buildings suggests a thriving economy in Mindanao. The
land has experienced rapid industrialization, attracting investments and businesses,
resulting in increased job opportunities and improved living standards for the local
population. The development of tourism, manufacturing, and technology industries could
have contributed to this growth.

While experiencing this growth, Mindanao manages to preserve its natural beauty. The
inclusion of coconut trees in the 3D Art suggests that the island maintains its lush
landscapes and biodiversity. Efforts are made to integrate nature into the urban
environment, with green spaces. These measures ensure that the island's natural
resources and ecosystems are protected, contributing to sustainable development.

Coconut trees are the local material of the art and they are
known for their ability to withstand harsh conditions, including
strong winds, salty environments, and drought. They symbolize
resilience, strength, and endurance, often serving as a metaphor
for human resilience in the face of adversity. The future that I
envision is a Mindanao where the people and the region are to
proactively address challenges, develop sustainable strategies,
and prioritize the well-being of their citizens to navigate through
obstacles and achieve long-term success.
