Educ. 5: Roles of Technology for Teaching and Learning

Task Sheet 5

1. Write a paragraph about your personal experience on how technology has influenced your life as
a learner from elementary, high school and college.

We all are undergoing the most profound change in human history. Technology greatly affects us
in our daily lives, be it personal, national, global, and, in many ways, limitless impact. It has, in fact,
changed the way we live and the way we learn. As much as I can remember, technology during my
elementary days was very different from what it is now, technology that time are not as useful and
needed as it is today. During my elementary days, we learned from textbooks and books, maybe once
in a while we used technology that time in traveling, entertainment and information only due to
limited access and information about technology. Although, I guess the teachers uses computer that
time. On high school days, particularly from grades 10-12 technology help us students a lot, the
introduction of technology during earlier grades were applied. When our teachers ask us to read and
research about something, we barely search for book since the libraries are limited, so we searched
online- easy and simple as that. On our major subject, which is in lined with information technology,
we mostly use technology. We were fascinated how works were easily and aesthetically done with
the use of technology. Technology also made teaching and communication clear and easily accessible.
And now, I'm already in college, due to some circumstances technology became a huge part of our
education system. Accessing lessons and sending activity this time must be in a way of using
technology. We must be aware of how to manage our times using technology for education purposes
and for some stuffs.

2. Write a paragraph on how you are going to use technology when you become a teacher?

Based on my experience, learning is better when applied with technology. When I became a teacher,
I will use technology as a tool for students to learn more without of course, neglecting the traditional
and hands-on one. I will introduce to my students the importance of technology, it's pros and cons. I
will use technology for reaching out, classroom instructions, reminders, lessons, assessment and such.
With the use of technology surely, teaching will be more effective

3. Look for articles in the world wide web that talks about the roles of technology in teaching and
learning then write your own reflection.

4. Make a group summary of 1 and 2:

a) With your group, share what you have written in 1 and 2.
b) Make a summary of all the members answers for 1 and 2.

Share the results to the whole class.
