\section{Introduction}
\large Let f(t) be a piece wise continuous function
on interval $0 $$\leq$$ t < infinity$ then in any
interval there are at most finite number of points
$t_k$, k=1,2,3,... at which the function f(t) has
finite discontinuity and is continuous on each sub
interval $t_k-1<t<t_k$

\large A piece wise continuous function is
typically defined by different expressions or
formulas on different intervals. Each expression
defines the behavior of the function within a
specific interval.A piece wise continuous function
can model complex phenomena that exhibit
different characteristics in different regions. The
function is considered continuous as long as the
individual expressions are continuous within their
respective intervals.
At the points where the intervals meet, the
function may exhibit discontinuities. These
discontinuities can be classified into different
types, such as jump discontinuities, removable
discontinuities, or essential discontinuities,
depending on the nature of the function's
behavior at those points.
Piece wise continuous functions are commonly
encountered in various areas of mathematics,
physics, engineering, and other disciplines. They
provide a way to define functions that have
different behaviors or properties on different
parts of their domain. By combining different

expressions, a piece wise continuous function can

For example, consider a piece wise continuous
function defined as:
\\ \\f(x) =
\\ \\$2x$, for $x < 0$
\\ \\$x^2$, for $0 $$\leq$$ x $$\leq$$1$
\\ \\$3 - x$, for $x > 1$
In this case, the function has different
expressions for three intervals: x < 0,
0$\leq$ x $\leq$ 1, and x > 1. Each expression
represents the behavior of the function within its

corresponding interval. The function is
considered piecewise continuous as each
expression is continuous within its interval, but
there may be discontinuities at x = 0 and x = 1
due to the change in the expression defining the
function.
Piece wise continuous functions provide a flexible
way to describe functions that exhibit different
behaviors in different regions, making them a
valuable tool in mathematical modeling and
analysis.

functions. Firstly a Piecewise Continuous function
is made up of a finite number of continuous
pieces on each finite subinterval [0, T]. Also the
limit of f(t) as t tends to each point of continuty is
finite. So an example is the unit step function.

1 Introduction

Let f(t) be a piece wise continuous function on interval 0≤t < infinity
then in any interval there are at most finite number of points tk,
k=1,2,3,... at which the function f(t) has finite discontinuity and is
continuous on each sub interval tk −1 < t < tk
A piece wise continuous function is typically defined by different
expressions or formulas on different intervals. Each expression defines
the behavior of the function within a specific interval.A piece wise
continuous function can model complex phenomena that exhibit
different characteristics in different regions. The function is considered
continuous as long as the individual expressions are continuous within
their respective intervals.
At the points where the intervals meet, the function may exhibit
discontinuities. These discontinuities can be classified into different
types, such as jump discontinuities, removable discontinuities, or
essential discontinuities, depending on the nature of the function’s
behavior at those points.
Piece wise continuous functions are commonly encountered in
various areas of mathematics, physics, engineering, and other
disciplines. They provide a way to define functions that have different
behaviors or properties on different parts of their domain. By combining
different expressions, a piece wise continuous function can model
complex phenomena that exhibit different characteristics in different
regions.
For example, consider a piece wise continuous function defined as:

6
Figure 1: Piece-wise discontinuous graph

f(x) =

2x, for x < 0 x2,

for 0≤x≤1

3−x, for x > 1

In this case, the function has different expressions for three intervals:
x < 0, 0≤ x ≤ 1, and x > 1. Each expression represents the behavior of the
function within its corresponding interval. The function is considered
piecewise continuous as each expression is continuous within its
interval, but there may be discontinuities at x = 0 and x = 1 due to the
change in the expression defining the function.
Piece wise continuous functions provide a flexible way to describe
functions that exhibit different behaviors in different regions, making
them a valuable tool in mathematical modeling and analysis.

a Piecewise Continuous function is made up of a finite number of

continuous pieces on each finite subinterval [0, T]. Also the limit of f(t)
as t tends to each point of continuty is finite. So an example is the unit
step function.
