RESOLUTION OF VECTORS

 It is the process of splitting a vector into two or more vectors in such a

way that their combined effect is same as that of the given vector. The
vectors into which the given vector is splitted are called component of
vectors.

VECTOR IN A PLANE
When a vector in a plane is splitted into two component vectors at
right angles to each other, the component vectors are called
rectangular components of a vector.

MULTIPLICATIIN OF VECTORS

 There are two ways of multiplying vectors which we shall come across :
one way known as the scalar product gives a scalar from two vectors and
the other known as the vector product produces a new vector from two
vectors
SCALAR PRODUCT (Dot Product)
 The scalar product or dot product of any two vectors A and B, denoted as
A.B
 A.B = A B cos θ where θ is the angle between the two vectors.
VECTOR PRODUCT(Cross product)

 The vector product of two vectors is equal to the product of their

magnitudes and the sine of the smaller angle between them.
 The vector or cross product of two vectors is also a vector.

i) Right Hand Screw Rule Rotate a right handed screw from first vector (A) towards second vector
(B). The direction in which the right handed screw moves gives the direction of vector (C).
ii) Right Hand Thumb Rule Curl the fingers of your right hand from A to B. Then, the direction of
the erect thumb will point in the direction of A * B.
