A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

Lesson 11

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a. discuss about food chanin and food web;
b. reflect on the importance of symbiotic relationship found in the ecosystem; and
c. sight examples of food chain and food web in real life.

A. Motivation:
Before we proceed to our discussion, let us first
watch a video to understand the content of our
lesson for today. Bring out yout notebook and
take note of the important parts. Is that Yes, sir.

Sir, no.
Are you all in a relationship?

When we say relationship, it does not mean with

the opposite sex. It also means realationship with
your family, friend, and neighbors.
Sir, we interact to make relationship.
Now class, why do we need to interact with one
another?

Correct. We need others because we cannot live

alone because “no man is an island”.
Sir, it is about the relationship that is
Now class, what is the video all about? happening on a ecosystem.

All right very good or in short, symbiotic

relationship of one organism to the other.

Let us further understand our lessons for today

throughout the discussion.

B. Interaction: a. discuss about food chanin and food

To give us a clear guide of our lesson for today, web;
here are the lesson objectives. Everyone, kindly b. reflect on the importance of symbiotic

c. sight examples of food chain and
food web in real life.

Our is all about on symbiosis, food chain and

food web. Today, we will explore the fascinating
world of organisms and their interdependent
relationships. Understanding symbiosis is crucial
in comprehending how life functions and sustains
itself. By the end of this presentation, you will
have a deeper appreciation for the
interconnectedness of all living things and how
they rely on each other for survival.

Sir, organisms being together.

Tell me class, what can you think of when you
see this image?
Sir, we think both organisms benefit
Okay you are right. Anymore? from one another.

All right very good! What we are going to tackle

for todays lesson is the relationship of one
organism to the other also called symbiotic
relationaship.
Sir, this are interaction between
To start, what is symbiosis? different species.

Correct. Symbiosis refers to the close and long-

term interaction between two or more different
species. It can be mutualistic, commensalistic, or
parasitic. Mutualism occurs when both species
benefit from the relationship, commensalism
when one benefits and the other is neither helped
nor harmed, and parasitism when one benefits at
the expense of the other. Examples of symbiotic
relationships include bees pollinating flowers,
clownfish living within sea anemones, and
parasites living inside their hosts. These
relationships can be seen throughout nature and
play a vital role in maintaining ecosystems.

Now class there are different types of symbiosis

that I have mentione, let us start first with
Mutualism.

Mutualism refer to a relationship in biology or

sociology that is mutually beneficial to two living
beings. Examples is a bee and flower. Bee
collects nectar from the honey and in return the
pollen from the flower pollen will attached and
distributed everywhere to produce more plants.
CHRIST- CENTEREDNESS EXCELLENCE MISSIONARY

Commensalism is a symbiotic relationship

wherein one species draws food, shelter, or
transpot from its host without significantly
harming it. As you can see on the image we have
a shark and a fish called remora. This fish always
follows the shark because everytime the shark
feeds, the remora eat the scraps. Also, they attach
to the shark for free ride.

Lastly is parasitism. relationship between two

species of plants or animals in which one benefits
at the expense of the other, sometimes without
killing the host organism. Example of which is
tick, tick attach to the dog consuming their blood.
Nothing beneficial happen between the two and it
cause further harm to the host.

C. Integration:
Let us have a activity. I will going to group you
into 5 groups. But before you go to your groups Talk within your groups.
kindly read the rules. Don’t roam around while discussing.
Don’t shout while talking.
I will give you six minutes to finish your
discussion. You have two miniutes to present the
puzzle.

(distributing activity cards)

Valuing:
Why is it important to make relationship. What
are the benefits of said relationship that are
made?

V. ASSIGNMENT
Give 5 examples of mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. Write it on your
notebook.
