Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England.

It was built between 3000

and 2000 BC.
The monument consists of a ring of standing stones, each weighing around 25 tons, and a series
of earthworks, including a circular ditch and a raised bank.
The stones used in Stonehenge were transported from as far away as 150 miles (240 kilometers).
It is still a mystery how the builders were able to move the stones to the site and replace them
without modern machinery.
Stonehenge aligns with the solstices, with the sun rising over the Heel Stone on the summer
solstice and setting over the center of the monument on the winter solstice. This has led many to
speculate that the site was used as a sort of astronomical calendar.
The original purpose of Stonehenge is still a mystery, but various theories suggest it may have
been used for religious or ceremonial purposes, as a burial site, or as an astronomical
observatory.
