Daily Duties as an Infrastructure engineer

Good morning teacher and classmates. My name is josue castrellón, I am going to talk to
you about my daily duties, I am an infrastructure engineer, I work at Construcciones Civiles
Generales, S.A. As a construction manager, I am in charge of planning the projects and
supervising all the works.

As soon as I arrive at work, I greet my colleagues and register my attendance, then I go to

the workplace. I check if I have any pending work or different requests that they give me
about the facilities and systems, since from time to time I have to be in meetings to notice a
problem and find the best way to solve it.
When I'm done with minor tasks, I start the morning with my professional duties which are
generally:

• Draw up blueprints, using computer aided design (cad) packages.

• Prepare bids for tenders, and report to clients, public agencies and planning bodies.

• Act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work.

• Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction
projects.

• Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects.

• Plan infrastructure projects and costs, and design airports, bridges, dams, harbors
and the highways
Then when I finish that, I have lunch with my colleagues, where we share some news that
there is at the national level, about the different projects that must be carried out in
construction.
In the afternoon, after lunch I go back to work and normally:
• Compile and submit permit applications to local, municipal, and governmental
agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations.
• Develop detailed designs as well as review and approve reports.
• Resolve design and development problems.
• Analyze configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other
structure.
• Monitor and inspect work undertaken by contractors.
• Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.

Before leaving work, I write down the different pending tasks, I close my assistance and I
say goodbye to my colleague
