Fashion tips for teens

 1
Fashion and developing a sense of style is important for many teenagers who want to look good
and express themselves. Here is what to consider:

 2
Confidence is key. Many attractive people might not always be fashionable, but they radiate self-
assurance. The right clothes can make you feel assertive. If you are uncomfortable in your clothes,
5 you might feel—and look—less confident.

 3
Focus on fit, not size. Weight is not a major issue for being fashionable. Know how clothes
should fit on your body to frame it in a flattering, comfortable way.

 4
Wear colours that suit you. If you are not sure, hold that colour up to your face in natural light. If
a colour works, the whites of your eyes seem brighter. If not, dark shadows appear under the eyes
10 and your skin looks dull.

 5
Get a great haircut. This is crucial. Think of your hair as an accessory. Don’t be afraid to try your
celebrity icons’ latest hairstyles. Have fun with it!

 6
Experiment with new styles to discover what suits you best. Have some basic wardrobe
essentials you can layer, accessorize, and mix and match.

15
 7
Be smart, dress smart. Be creative with things you already own. You will always have outfit
ideas for any occasion. Be aware of what complements your body type. It is OK to take risks with
fashion trends sometimes. You are the best judge of how you look, but if you are unsure of an
outfit, get an opinion about it from trusted people, or just change!
Text 2
Read the following text.

The red panda

 1
The red panda has reddish-brown fur, a long, shaggy tail and short legs. It is roughly the size of a
domestic cat, though with a longer body. Despite a shared name, it is not closely related to the
giant panda (which is actually a bear). Although red and giant pandas both consume bamboo as
their main food source, red pandas eat only bamboo leaves and shoots while giant pandas eat all
parts.
5
 2
Red pandas also eat roots, berries, eggs and young birds. They are excellent climbers. Living high
up in trees, red pandas are solitary animals and do not live in packs. They are native to China,
India, Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar.

 3
Red pandas are losing their homes because humans negatively impact their habitat. People cut
10 down forests to make way for housing, farming and infrastructure. Their livestock eats or destroys
the bamboo, and their dogs attack red pandas and spread diseases.

 4
Another threat is poachers catching red pandas for the pet trade, or for their skin, meat or fur. In
some parts of India and Nepal, they are kept as pets. In south-west China, their fur is highly valued
for use in local cultural ceremonies.

15
 5
It is estimated that the population of red pandas may have dropped by half in the past 20 years.
There are possibly fewer than 10,000 left, and perhaps as few as 2,500. However, because they live
in hard-to-reach areas, it is difficult to accurately track their numbers.
Write your answers in the spaces provided. For multiple-choice questions, choose the best answer and
