TAYLOR’S
LAW SCHOOL
At Taylor’s University, we are constantly keeping ahead to ensure our students graduate future-ready. We are focused on researching
what’s ahead, to ensure we have the capacity, skills and knowledge to equip our students with unconventional teaching and learning
methods.

Our research shows that experts predict shifts and changes to the legal landscape. Here are some advancements that are being
discussed, adopted and anticipated globally:

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Technology will be used to analyse data, manage caseloads, forecast outcomes, and decide whether to take on
a new client.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) & DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY)

By using AI to create and optimise processes that automate administrative work, lawyers can spend more time
actually practising law. In the future, AI will be taking over alternative dispute resolution with small consumer
cases, and the fuelling the expansion of DIY apps when it comes to contested family or estate matters.

MORE TECH AND LESS PAPER

Millennials in small firms and non-profits push for the adoption of technology and improve outdated
practices. This trend is expected to expand to online filing for pleadings, online fee payments and full online
access to docket sheets of filed documents.

MORE REMOTE WORK

Firms can scale down their costs by increasing their flexibility and efficiency with remote workspaces for
their employees, making it easier for firms to work with a wider client base and to solve cases speedily.

7
The future of law in view:

VIRTUAL FIRMS
Online legal services and entire virtual law firms will take flight.

VIRTUAL REALITY (VR) AND

AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)
VR and AR technology have the potential to transform the
practice of law. It’s no longer a stretch to imagine judges,
jurors, lawyers, and witnesses participating in a trial through
virtual reality.

CYBERLAWS
Cybersecurity becomes more crucial in data and information
protection. New ways of commerce in the digital space call for
constant evolution of cyberlaws.

SOCIAL MEDIA
A growing number of lawyers are finding their place on social
media, connecting with the public and one another - be it on
Instagram, YouTube, blogging, or podcasting. This makes legal
solutions more accessible to the public.

ELECTRONIC DISCOVERY
Massive influx of digital data (emails, texts, voicemails,
electronic calendars) are now open for analysis in legal
proceedings and lawyers will need to process all that
information quickly. Today’s AI and machine learning go a long
way to make the process less cumbersome.

CYBERSECURITY THREAT
The breadth of highly sensitive information held by law firms is
increasingly making them a target for cyber criminals. The
issue of cybersecurity and particularly the threat of
ransomware has been highlighted, questioning the
cyber-resilience of the legal community.

CLOUD AND MOBILE

There is an increased focus on software as a service and other
cloud-based mobile services that allow for improved
accessibility of client files, old cases, and other legal resources.

8
HUMANISING

COLLOQUIUMS

The law colloquiums not only raise awareness on current issues

perspectives and enhancing their appreciation for the law.

FIELD TRIPS

Students regularly participate in visits to the courts, Attorney

General’s chambers, prisons and the Parliament, to gain
exposure to law in action and to help them gain a deeper
insight into the legal practice.

TAYLOR'S STREET LAW

In May 2014, Taylor’s Law School launched a community-driven

Transfer Program
(Business)
KPT/JPS (R/345/6/0913) (MQA/FA 2317) 08/26

A study in business is a practical choice for almost anyone. Individuals who have a solid
business education are not only poised to start their own business, they also have the
practical skills needed to excel in a variety of positions in the industry of their choice.
Here are the common majors students pursue in the study of business and their descriptions.

Actuarial Science
Prepare students to apply the theory of probability and statistics along with the principles
of finance to analyze and solve problems in insurance, pension plans, social security issues,
and related fields. Students learn to forecast, analyze data, create risk tables, and to use
computers to conduct research.

Economics
Economics is the social science that analyzes the production, distribution, and consumption
of goods and services in the market, including the study of the ways people make a living
and reach decisions about the use of scarce resources. Students learn to conduct research,
collect and analyze data, monitor economic trends, and develop forecasts on a wide variety
of issues, including energy costs, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, business cycles,
taxes, and employment levels.

Finance
Finance is the art and science of managing money and the way people, institutions, markets
and countries generate and transfer wealth. Students will learn about commercial and
investment banking, forecasting and budgeting, asset and liability management, stocks and
bonds, and how markets function. In addition, students also learn how to determine what
fraction of a firm’s assets goes into different kinds of investment vehicles in order to
obtain the highest return for a justifiable level of risk.

Internaonal Business
The study of international business provides students with knowledge and skills required to
understand the mechanisms and institutions of international economy. Students learn about
international facets of economics, finance, information technology, law, management or marketing.

Management
The study of management in business provides the understanding of planning, organizing, staffing,
leading, and controlling an organization efficiently and effectively. Because organizations can be
viewed as systems, management can also be defined as human action to facilitate the production
of outcomes from a system.

Markeng
Marketing focuses on the process by which consumers’ and business, needs for products
and services are anticipated and satisfied. Students learn to conduct research, to analyze
and understand consumer behavior, to identify customer needs, to research and develop
new product, to price competitively, to coordinate promotional or sales programs, and
to distribute efficiently.

PSYCHOLOGY
Psychology skills are highly sought after in a world accelerated
by technology and driven by hard data. Our commitment to
equip students with unconventional teaching and learning
methods is exemplified by Taylor’s Centre for Human

research and therapy centre in Malaysia, and Southeast Asia’s
first AI-equipped behavioural science laboratory.

The demand for psychology expertise is spreading, repeated

with certain factors driving the role that psychology and social
sciences play:

SOCIAL SCIENCES
Inevitably, the field of social science has gained more
emphasis, with technological advancements and globalisation
giving rise to social, ethical and political issues. The Social

Technology and science also add to the way we appreciate art.

around us, both in its logical or abstract form and thus,
continues to evolve over time.

Programmes such as Malaysia’s first Conservatory Bachelor’s

Degree in performing arts, reflect our core vision to build
