Activity 5

WHAT’S MY TYPE?
Objective: To describe safety procedures in the laboratory.

Materials: A & B antisera, glass slide, lancet needle, toothpick, band-aid, red ballpen/coloring material

Procedure: 1. First and foremost, sanitize your hands with alcohol or wash with soap and water.

2. Using a sterile lancet needle, prick you finger to draw out enough drops of blood.

3. In a clean glass slide, add two (2) drops of blood and label as 1 st drop and 2nd drop.

4. Add anti-A serum to the 1st drop and anti-B serum to the 2nd drop.

5. Properly mix the antisera and blood using separate toothpicks.

6. Allow to stand for 2-3 minutes and note down the result based on clump formation (agglutination).

Concept: How to interpret your result?

Observations: Illustrate your results using a red ballpen or red coloring material.
