EXERCISE 04 COLOR: BUILDING A MDF COLOR CUBE

Exercise to be done in groups of 4-5 students. An extract of PSICOLOGÍA DEL COLOR, a book by Eva Heller (available online in the
UNAV library) will be uploaded in ADI. Each student will have to choose one of the feelings/emotions included in the book and represented
as a 2D color palette and write a text of no more than 600 words explainhg the reasons for the choice, including at least 6 images reinforcing
the reasons given in the text. Then, based in the former texts, the members of the group will discuss which of the palettes chosen by each
member should be the one to manufacture a 10 x 10 x10 cm MDF cube (medium-density fibreboard,MDF) by laser-cutting its six sides in
the Laboratory, then glueing them to build up the cube and finally, recover it with the printed pattern of the color palette, so as to create the
3D volume resulting of the extrussion of the 2D original image in the book, reproducing as precisely as possible the original colors in
there The exercise submission will consist in:

- The color palette cube (Group, physcal object) and an A3 format paper size technical report (group, printed copy and pdf file
uploaded in each group member’s personal GD) including the autocad drawings for the cutting of the MDF pieces and their dimentions
(mm), all the views of the final cube with the real dimentions (mm) and the die-cut of the printed paper cover, indicating the CMYK of
ecah of the colors included. Images of the whole process of the cube making are to be included also.
- The A3 statement (Personal, printed copy in paper and pdf file in GD folder) regarding the color palette chosen by each student.

SUBMISSION DATE AND CONTENT


The cube, the printed technical report and the personal statements will be submitted after class, in the date indicated in the CL I Schedule
(ADI). Each student will upload the technical report (TR) and personal statement (PS)pdf files in his/her personal GD folder.
