• South Sulawesi is the ninth largest provincial economy in Indonesia, and in 2019 the province
has an average annual rates of economic growth of 6.8%. On the other hand, Sulawesi as a whole
managed an even better rates of 7.2%. This shows, that Sulawesi is ahead of the nation average
of 5.2% for the year 2019.
• Experts mentioned that the region is growing faster than the national average reflecting the
process of “catching up” after years of laggard development.
• As South Sulawesi is outside Java, fiscal incentives are given for 15 years compare to 10 years if
for inside Java investment incentives. However, rules and requirements still need to be followed.
