INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING DISPLAY SCREEN EQUIPMENT

SITTING/POSTURE FORMS

Continuous computer use can lead to various discomforts such as disk displacement, cervical
and lumbar hernias, wrist, knee, and elbow arthritis, shoulder and neck stiffness, and eye
problems. To protect yourself against these types of discomfort, please follow the instructions in
this guideline.

HARDWARE
1. Monitor:
 Position the screen at an appropriate distance and at eye level according to your
working position. If you are using a laptop, use a suitable stand underneath it.
 The characters displayed on the screen should be easily distinguishable, in the right
shape and size, with adequate spacing between lines and characters.
 The screen display should be stable, without flickering or any other negative effects. If
necessary, seek support from the IT Department.
 Adjust the brightness and contrast between characters and the background
appropriately.
 Rotate and position the screen directly in front of your face, without any bothersome
reflections or glare.
 Arrange your working position and screen in a way that eliminates uncomfortable
reflections and glare.
2. Keyboard:
 Position the keyboard so that your hands and arms are comfortable and not strained. If
you are using a laptop, adjust the angle with a suitable stand.
 Place a wrist support on the front of the keyboard, if necessary, to rest your wrists on.
 Leave enough space in front of the keyboard for your hands and arms.
3. Work Desk or Surface:
 The work desk or surface should be large enough and non-reflective to comfortably
accommodate the screen, keyboard, documents, and other related materials.
 If needed, use an adjustable document holder that minimizes eye and head movements.

 Use a balanced and comfortable chair that allows you to sit in a relaxed position and
move easily.
 Adjust the height of the seat appropriately.
 If the chair lacks lumbar support, use a flexible backrest suitable for your lower back.
 Use a footrest if necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1. Adequate Space:
 Your work center should be sufficiently spacious and properly arranged to allow changes
in sitting positions and easy movement.
2. Lighting:
 Provide suitable lighting conditions according to your requirements and the nature of
your work; there should be appropriate contrast between the background and the
screen.
 The locations and technical specifications of artificial lighting sources should be
arranged to prevent glare and reflections on the screen and other equipment; if not, seek
assistance from the relevant unit.
3. Reflection and Glare:
 Take measures to prevent lighting that may cause reflections and glare in your work
area.
 Use adjustable blinds to control natural light hitting the screen.
REST AND EXERCISE
1. Rest your eyes at regular intervals when working with a computer for long periods.
2. Occasionally, try to perform exercises provided to you in a presentation file while sitting or
standing in your place.
