My experience as a master's student at EACF was a mixed one, with all kinds of
emotions. Although it was a real pleasure to attend classes, to meet new people,
to embrace such an experience at a rather old age, however, in the first semester,
I wanted to give up the master's degree. I felt overwhelmed by the large number
of exams and the demands of the teachers. Thus, in the first session I did not
present myself, except for the English language exam, which I passed with
flying colours. Later, my colleagues encouraged me not to give up and I
changed my mind. The professors were understanding and agreed to hand in the
papers in the second semester. Now, I'm almost up to date and I hope to finish
the first year well. I'm already starting to think about the dissertation work.

LICENII URASC ISTORIA. Când își listează subiectele preferate, istoria vine
invariabil pe ultimul loc. Elevii consideră istoria „cea mai irelevantă ” dintre cele
două zeci și una de materii predate în mod obișnuit în liceu. Plic-ti-si-tor este
adjectivul pe care i-l aplică . Când pot, elevii o evită , chiar dacă majoritatea
elevilor obțin note mai mari la istorie decât la matematică , științe sau engleză .
Chiar și atunci când sunt forțați să urmeze cursuri de istorie, ei reprimă ceea ce
învață , așa că la fiecare unu sau doi ani, un alt studiu condamnă ceea ce copiii
noștri de șaptesprezece ani nu știu. Studenții afro-americani, nativi americani și
latino-americani vă d istoria cu o aversiune specială . De asemenea, ei învață
istoria extrem de prost. Elevii de culoare se descurca doar puțin mai ră u decât
elevii albi la matematică . Dacă îmi scuzați gramatica, studenții nealbi se
descurcă mai ră u la engleză și cel mai ră u la istorie. Ceva intrigant se întâmplă
aici: cu siguranță istoria nu este mai dificilă pentru minorită ți decât
trigonometria sau Faulkner. Elevii nici mă car nu știu că sunt ciudati, doar că
„nu le plac studiile sociale” sau „nu sunt buni la istorie”.

because they find it boring.
2. Maybe Romanian students don’t hate history, but I think there aren’t
many of them to love it. Only a few students are keen on History, the
others learn it because they have to.
