Definition

Caption text is a short text located near photo,video,illustration,poster,and graph.caption

consists of several descriptions of words or several sentences.a good caption clearly identifies
the subject of the image clearly,although not in too much detail,because of the limited space to
write.captions can be in the form of words,phrase or complete sentences.

Purpose

The purpose of captions is to give information to the readers or viewers about the picture and
videos, and to convey certain messages.without having to write at length about the object or
image.caption is to inform the basic information of some object.So,the reason people write
captions is to convey the meaning of an object or image.

Types of Caption

1. Identification Bar
This type of caption only mentions who is in the picture,used if there are only 1 person
in the photo,but does not explain a story.

(jenis caption ini hanya menyebutkan siapa yang ada di dalam gambar,digunakan jika hanya ada
1 orang di dalam foto,namun tidak menjelaskansebuah cerita).

2. Group identification
This caption must have at least two sentences per picture and include a quote. And
same as the type of caption identification bar,only this type is used if the image contains
more than one person.
(keterangan ini harus memiliki setidaknya dua kalimat tiap gambar nya dan
menyertakan kutipan.dan sama seperti identification bar ,hanya jenis ini digunakan jika
gambar berisi lebih dari satu orang).
3. Quote
Quote caption contains quotes or words of wisdom contained in the image and be an
inspiration to everyone.
(quote berisi kutipan atau kata kata bijak yang terdapat didlam gambar tersebut dan
juga bisa menjadi inspirasi bagi semua orang nantinya).
4. Expanded
The type of caption that has the most complete information,uses the sentence 5W 1H
and this caption is the development of the previous text,espencially the summary
caption.
(jenis caption yang paling lengkap informasinya.menggunakan kalimat 5W1H dan
caption ini adalah pengembangan dari teks sebelumnya,terutama caption summary).
 5. Summary
Contains a complete description of who was drawn,what was done,when it
happened,where it happened,and why it was done that is 5W In the description of the
picture.
(Berisi deskripsi lengkap tentang siapa yang digambar,apa yang dilakukan,kapan itu
terjadi,dimana itu terjadi,ddan mengapa itu dilakukan ini termasuk dengan 5W saja
pada penjelasan gambar tersebut).
6. Cut Line
This type of caption mentions who is drawn and what it does.it is most often found in
pictures and writings in newspapers or in other media.
(jenis keterangan ini menyebutkan siapa yang digambar dan apa fungsinya.dan caption
ini paling sering ditemukan dalam gambar dan tulisan yang ada pada Koran atau pada
media lainnya).

EXAMPLE

 “In taking education,don’t be pround of getting high grades,but be pround of how much
experience you get”.
(Dalam menempuh pendidikan jangan lah engkau bangga dalam mendapat nilai tinggi
tapi banggalah seberapa banyak pengalaman yang engkau dapatkan).
 “I will not lose,for even in defeat,there’s a valuable lesson learned,so it evens up for
me”- JAY Z
(Aku tidak akan kalah,karena bahkan dalam kekalahan ada pelajaran berharga yang bisa
dipetik,jaadi itu hasil yang seimbang untukku.)
