1. INTRODUCTION

According to the internet sources and Investopedia, a successful manager,

entrepreneur or business figure defined as someone who focuses on a broad range
of metrics in his or her works and passions. In a business, it is very important to
perform sales volumes and value as we have to assess with the total value of sales
which consider as profits and costs gain.

Since business is a responsibility which the concept held is “responsibility is

nothing more than good business”, as a business figure, he or she must be alert to
aim more values and good targets to focus on shared values by addressing any
issues happened in the business. This will help the business to be developed
through many factors such as economic, social or even financial stability. This
will lead to a better business future and also it’s necessity, which it will encourage
a leader or business figure to keep up their performance in order to maintain great
outcomes for their future success.

First of all, I had chosen a business figure named Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman
Mahbob, which he simply added on a business model to intend on making his
money when visualizing and assessing his business ideas and elements of core.
Another factor I choose Tan Sri Dato’ Sulaiman Mahbob is because of his
charming and his charisma towards job and responsibilities.

Hence, this is why I choose himas a figure since he is a good example to the
young generation. As stated previously, sufficient knowledge and years of
experience by him has positively shown through increment results from most of
his contributions, despite of its lack to those who suffered the least experience and
knowledge. These impacts can cause bigger trouble as most of the older
workforce produce firm productivity through their tertiary level in education.
Besides, great educational achievement among them should gained more
efficiency in contributing our country’s productivity towards excellent
performance.
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob is the Group Chairman of Telekom
Berhad which also in position as the Chairman of Multimedia University. He also
the Chairman of Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER). Tan Sri
Sulaiman Mahbob began as he served himself as a Director General of the
Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of few past years in between year 2006 until
2009. Hence, he also served as the Ministry of Finance (Economics and Budget
Divisions) and the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs. He also once
a career civil servant which has position in the Malaysian Government. He
contributed a lot when he joined once as a board member of Perbadanan Insurance
Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia
Commission. (MCMC)

The uncertainty of economic supplies makes him to encourage himself to get

another work even after his retirement. Thus, since business is his passion, his
latest position in 2022 as a new Chairman of MIDA.

found in few sources. During the early stage of his life, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri
Sulaiman Mahbob was graduated with a Degree in Economics at one of the
most successful universities in Malaysia which at University of Malaya.

 Education

Since Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob was from Pontian, Johor,
his educational background impressed his community a lot after he ended his
Master of Science at University of London, United Kingdom. He is very smart
and very hardworking during his studies. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob
started going to school in secondary school at Pontian, which he exactly lives
in Pontian, Johor.

 Career
Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob was appointed as Director
General of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Prime Minister's Department
from 2006 to 2009. During the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, he was appointed
as Head of the Secretariat of the National Economic Advisory Council
(NEAC). Apart from that, he was also appointed as the Executive Director of
the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) in 1995.

The Integrity Institute of Malaysia (IIM) was founded by him and once
appointed as the President of IIM in 2004. In 2015, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri
Sulaiman Mahbob next was appointed as Chairman of Telekom Malaysia
Berhad to replace Dato' Sri Dr. Halim Shafie who was appointed as Chairman
of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM).
After that, he resigned from the position in 2018 and was replaced by Rosli
Man.

He was also the first Chairman of the Malaysian Companies

Commission from 2004 to 2005 as Director General of the Economic Planning

Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM). He resigned from
the position in 2018 and was replaced by Rosli Man. He was also the first
Chairman of the Malaysian Companies Commission from 2004 to 2005.

 Personal life

Based on the article and journals that I found through Google sources,
Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob, which was latest appointed as in position of a
chairman to MIDA Berhad, he was influenced to be motivated by many
factors due to his high spirit and perseverance towards our country. Besides
that, Tan Sri Sulaiman build a positive mindset to get greater success, as we
lived in a multiracial country, so it does not be a problem to have multi spirits
among us. He also mentioned that multiracial country must fulfilled with open
minded people so that we can avoid the racism issue among us, as it supposed
to be surrounded with positive sentiments between each race.

Other than that, since he is currently retire, he focused on familiar issue

of the eradication of poverty that must be overcome so that we Malaysian
could living in this modernization era, as we lived in a developed country.
Thus, Tan Sri Sulaiman has mentioned strictly about strengthening our
savings, based on the policy regulation fixed by government. In addition,
based on what he has mentioned, it is important to maintain on our retirement
phase so that we could maintain the resources and incomes as our future
savings.

Regardless of being a retiree, he has keen to be optimised in earning

more money and cultivating a saving culture to get a better living. This could
be proven that, despite of the older workforces or retirees are worried about
their aging transition policy, government stated that financial incentives for
the elder workforces have been cut out as it only served as sub-program
(Yusoff & Buja, 2013) as cited in Anisah A., et al, (2018). Compared to the
Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 (UK), Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sulaiman Mahbob
decides to provide protection for himself from discrimination on grounds of
age in employment or vocational training (Parry & Harris, 2011), the 2011
National Policy for Older Persons and Plan of Action for Older Persons has
not addressed the issue, that is to remove age barriers in employment policies
and practices in Malaysia.
